Ill Health

Aside from the two gents in the most recent comic comments thread who are contemplating my death in various nefarious ways, I appreciate my readers’ patience with my sketchy updates over the last couple of weeks.  Basically what’s been happening is that I have a couple of chronic medical conditions.  When I only have to deal with one at a time, I’m able to churn out comics on a fairly regular basis.  But, when they gain up on me at the same time, it becomes very difficult for me to generate the presence of mind and energy to push through the discomfort and get actual work done.  As such, the last couple of weeks, especially, have been difficult.  I’ve gotten some better rest over the weekend, though, and I feel somewhat better today.  Hopefully I’ll continue to improve.  I won’t make any promises (I know better than to promise what I can’t guarantee).  We’ll just see how things go, eh?

I like the new site setup, nice. Makes it alot easier to see whats new. As for your medical conditions, Im sorry to hear about that. I hope they arent terminal, dispite what me and Shu say, we realy just want the best for you and the comic. The death threats are just a way to pass the time.

re: John Kenyon – I upgraded to the latest version of the ComicPress theme, using the Graphic Novel variant.  I like the layout better than the previous version.

Nope, nothing terminal – just chronic and vaguely annoying.

Oh, and I’m just giving you guys a hard time.  ;-)

    FYI, I’ve already read this.

But it’s fun to think about your (un)timely demise.

Wow! Mentioned in a news post! Moving on up!

Didn’t think I’d be remembered for death thoughts though.

    Oh well.

  4. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Yeah, we love you really. (Is there a way to delete these posts? My friends would have a field day. Of humiliation for me, that is).

Death threats are a nice way to pass the tuesdays, thursdays and weekends.

Hope you get better. You haven’t been too well these last few weeks.

re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – Naw, man, it’s all good.  I find the back-and-forth quite amusing, actually.  :)

No, it’s been a rough year, really.  I’ve been sorting through various health issues for several months now.  I have my good days (and weeks) and bad.  We’ll see how this week goes, eh?  :)

Love your gravatar… who drew it?

Hope it’s not too serious, I look forward to Mon/Wed/Fri now. Before I just took them when they came.

Nice to know you appreciate our death threats. IN the way they’re supposed to be.

re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – That’s a bit of my own art.  I’m working on developing a new webcomic, and I was curious if I could draw myself in cartoon form.  That was the result.  :) Glad you like it!

And I’m glad you look forward to Reclaimer updates.  I’ve been a bit frustrated that I haven’t been able to get on a consistent schedule recently.

Hey, man, I’ve got a sense of humor, so no worries.  ;-)

Ah, good. So my ideas werent as offensive as I thought.
    Must work harder then…..

  9. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Hmm… will spend more time thinking about inventive death threats…

About that. Can we set up a structure for our comments, say so that we don’t just carry last time’s comments onto the new one, or start a new topic?

Or a forum. That would be nice. If there are enough people interested. There are certainly enough things to talk about (ie Ferial/Reclaimer. Related?)

  10. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

And I miss the old Reclaimer banner. Another one?

  11. mendicantbias00

I hope you feel better.  Take your time and do what you need to feel better.  We will be here when you get back.

I also miss the Reclaimer banner, though I really like the new layout!

re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I actually have a forum set up, but I’m not quite ready to let folks use it.  I need to do a little coding on it first.  I’ll tell you what – I’ll see what I can do to spruce up the look and layout of the Reclaimer site and finish getting the forum ready and see if I can’t get both done by this weekend.  It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a few weeks now, but now that there’s a formal request in for a forum, I’ll add a little more priority to it and see what I can hammer out.  :)

  13. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Cool, but don’t let us tire you out.

Take your time, me and John will still be here talking about your death when you come back.

Speaking of which, I was thinking of a harpoon gun. It might work, if it went through his window.

  14. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Wow, are you really that fast?

I wanted to check for new comments earlier and couldn’t find the server. Were you working on the forum?

  15. Jim (TTL Demag0gue)

re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I wish.  No, there have been periodic maintenance-related outages on my server the last couple of weeks.  It’s been somewhat annoying but there isn’t much I can do about it when they happen.

  16. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Oh. While you’re here, would you prefer being thrown off a cliff or having a harpoon being fired through your head?

Not seriously. I don’t think I live within 100 miles of you.

  17. John Kenyon

No no Shu, dont ask him what he wants. The target is allways wrong about what they realy want. They say they want it in the gut, then they whine about the pain. Thye say they want it in the head, then the relatives get pissy about not haveing an open casket.

  18. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

Exactly. The target is ALWAYS wrong. The opposite is required.

    Car bomb?

  19. John Kenyon

Id like that, but just by saying that on the internets, youve been taged as a terrorist. Nice job smart one.

  20. Shu Sam Chen (HSAR)

    The CIA don’t do that… I think.

(Jim) Hope you’re feeling better in time for the Friday update.
