I think we will be seeing more of Eternal Refuge soon….at least I hope so!
Also, glad the site is back up and running =D
June 30th, 2008 at 8:34 am
re: mendicantbias00 – Hehe, just wait until you find out what Eternal Refuge actually is! ;-)
Yeah, me, too. I didn’t even know it’d gone offline until HSAR said something. My domain transfer for the site finally transferred away from my old webhost to GoDaddy yesterday, and they didn’t preserve my nameserver information (despite my having it set to do so). There’s probably a few folks who will still see the parked page for a few hours yet, but for the most part, everything should be mostly back to normal.
June 30th, 2008 at 9:07 am
ACTUALLY IS?!? o_O egads!
June 30th, 2008 at 9:15 am
re: mendicantbias00 – Hehehe. ;-)
I’ve been having a lot of fun watching you guys speculate and make assumptions – and I’m looking forward to confirming some of those assumptions and completely breaking others. (And no, I won’t tell you which is which – at least, not yet.) :-D

Tease…
June 30th, 2008 at 10:25 am
And neither will I, though on my part most of it was given by Jim, or will be incorporated into future fanfics.
The chess/pawns analogy, oddly, reminds me of the Cold War and the Iron Curtain, where no one could know what the other was doing.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:26 am
How come the Key Master gets highlighted backgrounds? :D
June 30th, 2008 at 10:29 am
re: mendicantbias00 – Of course! :)
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – That’s actually a pretty good little comparison there. I hadn’t thought of that, but it is very much along similar lines.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:31 am
D= He’s messing with our minds!!! ;)
Did I find a mistake, or is it my lack of large dictionaries:
“True that we have been not been a unity for many upon many cycles…”
(Two beens!!!)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Hmm… I wonder why I don’t have an avatar on comments. I used the same Email address.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Oh, and the HBO post says that there is word of a much larger cast.
True/Untrue/Semi-true? < —(please don’t say that one without an explanation; although from what I know of you you will)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:33 am
re: Uzi_Master – Dang it!. No, you’re not wrong. That’s a goofup on my part. I even proof-checked it before posting it, I swear! I’ll try to correct it tonight when I get home. (Man, I need to get a laptop…)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:34 am
He’s referring to unity as a noun, which is uncommon and unorthodox, but correct.
Jim has an amazingly large vocabulary and rich writing style that I thought I’d never see outside of boring classics like War of the Worlds.
He’s a real first, in terms of literary quality.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Heehee. I’m sneeky. >=)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Damn, you type too fast, Jim.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Wow, this thread is a real live wire right now.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Yup…we’re all on! =)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:37 am
re: Uzi_Master – I don’t know. Your avatar has fallen off all your comments. I’d check over at Gravatar again and possibly select your avatar and resave your preferences. My guess is something got goofed up on their end.
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – Yeah, I noticed that, as well. It made me chuckle. And I don’t really want to give an answer to that yet, because I have an entire sub-arc planned for the backstory and reveal of the Unities.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Upon rereading UziMaster’s post, I realised that I hadn’t realised the two beens either when I first read it. I thought that he was referring to “unity” used as a noun.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:38 am
I think I’ve stumbled upon a huge subject for debate.
What are the Unities?
(Should have made that capitalised, for import)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:41 am
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I’ve been an avid reader since I was old enough to hold a book. It was always exasperating when I was in high school when I’d use a word in the course of casual conversation that was commonplace to me because I’d read it on a regular basis but that would generate blank looks from my classmates. It’s been extremely gratifying to share this comic with other intelligent readers. :)
I get email notifications every time there’s a new comment, so I’m generally right on top of replies. :)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Oooh… Questions, company mess-ups, and a debate. All in 5 minutes’ work!
June 30th, 2008 at 10:43 am
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I was wondering if you guys were going to latch onto that. :)
re: Uzi_Master – Y’all are good!
June 30th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Wow, someone that understands?
I thought I’d never see the day!
Most of the people I know that are my age have trouble with “unorthodox”.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:46 am
BTW whatever happened to John Kenyon? Haven’t seen him for nearly half a dozen comics now.
(Sign one that you love Reclaimer too much: Start talking about time in terms of comic releases)
June 30th, 2008 at 10:47 am
“Unorthodox”? Man, I’m the definition of unorthodox. You should’ve heard my Valedictorian speech!
June 30th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Hey, my avatar still isn’t working. I just “re-loaded” it.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – It’s a fair question. I haven’t heard from him in awhile.
re: Uzi_Master – I’m not sure what to tell ya’, man. Everything looks good from here. It’s gotta be something strange on Gravatar’s end. You might double-check the email addy you have registered with them, just in case.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Alright, I’ll do that.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:03 am
How’s this?
June 30th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Nevermind…
June 30th, 2008 at 11:05 am
re: Uzi_Master – Give it about 30 minutes or so, too, when you make updates. It sometimes takes a little bit for the change to populate.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:11 am
I see… I shall start the revered long wait!
June 30th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Look at that! 34 comments!
June 30th, 2008 at 11:20 am
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I know it! You guys have been rather prolific today already. I do believe that makes this the most commented installment of Reclaimer to date. (Granted, about a third of these comments pertain to avatars and the like, but still…)
June 30th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Hahaha! I’ve sieged the comments with avatar talk!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 11:30 am
re: Uzi_Master – Huh, y’know what’s weird? Your avatar shows up just fine in the forums, but it’s not translating to over here. Lemme do some more investigating and just make sure that it’s not something in my own settings.
BTW – what did you rate your Gravatar when you uploaded it? (Nevermind – I figured it out. You rated it at PG. I just bumped my Gravatar settings for the site up a level.)
June 30th, 2008 at 11:31 am
I don’t know what I rated it. It couldn’t have been more than PG, I think. Lemme go check.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Whoa! There it is. No checking needed.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:35 am
A Gravatar setting bumped for me…dedication ;). I see that you can edit your posts. Lucky =)
June 30th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Alright, I think I’m going to take a break from spamming the comments ;). Breakfast is yelling at me. =)
June 30th, 2008 at 11:48 am
re: Uzi_Master – Here you go. Just for you, commenters now have the ability to edit their comments for a few minutes after submitting them. :)
June 30th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Whoa! Nice! A good complaint can go a long way. ;)
Edit: The editor has a timer too! =D
June 30th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Really? I always thought that comments weren’t editable.
EDIT: But now you can! (For 5 minutes)
June 30th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
re: Uzi_Master – I’d been debating adding the plugin to let readers edit their comments. Your ‘complaint’ was just the kick in the butt to motivate me to actually do it.
And um, no, I haven’t fixed the comic yet. ;-)
June 30th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – The time span can be adjusted, but I don’t really see a reason to make it longer than 5 minutes at this point. It’s mostly for those times when people submit their comment and realize they made a typo. :)
June 30th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Hey, I edited that out! ;)
June 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
re: Uzi_Master – Hehe, my email notification contains the text of the original comment, so that’s what I ended up responding to. :)
June 30th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Whoa. Look how big this page got!
June 30th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
why are these so good, it hurts my head to even think of its awesomeness
June 30th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Crazy people… ;-)
June 30th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Y’know, in re-reading through today’s installment, I find myself kind of cracking up at the exchange between Ferial and Chaos. It’s like two kids on the playground, going back and forth about who has the bigger stick.
Kid 1: “I have the biggest stick, and I’m gonna beat you up!”
Kid 2: “Nuh-uh! I have the biggest stick, and I’m gonna beat you up!”
Just kinda makes me chuckle. I didn’t really see that relationship while I was writing it. :)
June 30th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Well, after reading all 60 installments and relevant comments in the space of two hours, I must say this is one of the greatest webcomics I’ve yet seen. Both from the artistic and storyline aspect, you’ve done some great work! :D Also reading the critiques and other comments is almost as entertaining as the comic itself!
Keep up the great work! This one is definitely going on my “daily internet check” list!
June 30th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
re: vypr07 – Thanks for the compliments! I’m glad you like it! And I must agree – the comments sections are always quite entertaining. :)
Don’t forget to check out the RSS feed in the left sidebar or the email form to get Reclaimer in your email! ;-)
July 1st, 2008 at 6:11 am
Great comic Jim! Looking forward to the next one!
Also: The site was offline?
July 1st, 2008 at 6:15 am
re: Matoro3311 – Thanks, man. I’m glad you’re loving it! :)
And yeah, it was, but depending on what ISP you’re with, some folks may never even have seen it. There was a little bit of a nameserver goofup when the domain switched hosts overnight on Sunday.
July 1st, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Hmm… My friend told me about the “Harry Dresden” series today… apparrently it has a vengeful spirit that resides inside a skull.
Remind you of anything?
July 1st, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Archimedes has a series!!?? ;)
July 1st, 2008 at 9:07 pm
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – Nope, not a thing. ;-)
re: Uzi_Master – Yeah, don’t ya’ know? I stole the idea for Archimedes from… uh, what was it again? :)
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
As I expected, another cryptic and intriguing installment. Keep up the good work Jim! Oh and also thanks for your advice, I’m playing around with GIMP awhile before I start any serious work on my project, and I’ll let you know as soon as I have something worth showing of it!
July 2nd, 2008 at 5:15 pm
re: Sangheilioz – Sounds good! I’ll look forward to it. :)
