Ferial? Archimedes?
July 7th, 2008 at 1:38 am
I love the first frame. It’s got a perfect gritty feel that goes with the text superbly.
Worth waiting a weekend for.

I’d say either:
– The networked intelegence ferial alluded to a few pages ago, the one that the cavalcade didn’t know about, or…
-The Flood

love how you incorporated scenes from other than multiplayer maps, me like it
July 7th, 2008 at 9:36 am
Please tell me that sometime soon we may see Cold Storage make its way into the Reclaimerverse. I freakin love how beautiful that map is.

re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – :D
re: mendicantbias00 – Sorry, man. I accidentally deleted your comment when trying to reply to it, but I’m glad you like the last two lines. I had fun scripting them. :)
re: Bearded Phantom – Yeah, I need to delve into Campaign a little more often to pick up screenshots to use. It just takes time to play through the missions to get to the appropriate areas I usually need.
re: mendicantbias00 – You’ll see it, but I’m not sure exactly how soon yet.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:48 am
Great stuff! I’ve read all the comics up to this one and they’re fantastic!
Can’t wait for more! Especially ones in Cold Storage. I love that map so much!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:57 am
This entity sounds similar to a Gravemind. Possibly?
July 7th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Another question, do you have an end date, or set number of comics you are planning to produce? Is this finite like a mini-series, or open-ended?
July 7th, 2008 at 11:10 am
re: XxxxJammyxxxX – Always glad to have a new reader! :)
re: Taterific – This story arc has a definite ending. I don’t have a specific ending date or number of comics, though. I’m going to just let the story tell itself, however long that takes. What I’m still debating on, though, is whether or not to leave a little hole for a second story arc to start from afterward.
July 7th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Exciting stuff. :)
July 7th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Wow man…first of all thanks for using my piks…they look so much cooler after you animate them!!!
also wow i cant wait for wednesday!! i cant wait to see like a battle of the AI’s that would be so freaking awesome!
July 7th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
How would AI’s battle? Would it be by physcally controlling something to destroy the other’s mainframe, or would it be setting up defensive firewalls while simulaneously trying to break through it’s opponenets firewalls, or would it be a game of pong where the two would battle their “wit” against one another?
This is an open ended question, I don’t expect an answer just trying to provoke some thought.
July 7th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Hey, Jim, do you have Cold Storage yet? The Monitor in the ceiling and Flood outbreak would be great for your Machinima. :)
July 7th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
I must say i do like the idea of AI playing Pong! Even better, they could play Halo 3!
But I mostly wanted to say Happy Bungie Day everybody!
July 7th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
OOh,this is that thing Ferial was talking about last strip! The first panel goes really well with the caption, and the last panel is just awesome. The silouhette-i-ness of the ark looks great with the filters.Using campaign screenshots=Sweet affect.Happy 77 Day!:)
July 7th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
re: PikminGod – Well, technically, I don’t animate them – just filter them and put them together into a comic. :)
re: Taterific – Well, there’s sort of an AI battle in Contact Harvest, where Liko spikes Sif with a virus that melts down her datacenter. I imagine an AI battle would be very much like that.
re: Matoro3311 – Yup, I downloaded it this morning first thing. I didn’t get to walk around it until this evening, though. Oh, yes – I have very definite plans for this map. I can’t wait to get to that part in the story. :)
re: Mysterioso2006 – :-D
July 7th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
The frames are beautiful. Great work.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
re: natedogr – Thank mendicantbias00 and PikminGod, since they provided the shots for this one. I just dressed them up a little and shoved them out the door. :)
July 7th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
The dialogue reminds of Galactus or Thanatos from the Marvel universe.
July 8th, 2008 at 1:51 am
Oooo something big is gonna reveal itself soon…
Can’t wait for your next master piece!
July 8th, 2008 at 9:48 am
as i played CS i kept having this wierd feeling of being watched…then i looked up!! its like the guys that created the map were like “How can we add an awesome tangible AI for the next Reclaimer comic?”
July 8th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
I forgot to say this yesterday, due to work, but Happy [Belated] Bungie Day!!! Somehow I have a feeling that I’m going to love this part ;). Also, is this “entity” a Precursor (the beings that achieved god-like status before the forerunners even existed)?
July 8th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Is it God? A Dinosaur? Hmm, I wonder.
July 8th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
re: natedogr – I’m going to demonstrate my general comic ignorance by saying this, but I’m not really familiar with either of those. :)
re: spartn117 – Something big, yes. Soon? Well… soonish, anyway. ;-)
re: PikminGod – Yeah, I saw that. I just have to decide if I actually want to work it into the story somehow or just pretend it doesn’t exist. :)
re: Uzi_Master – Huh, Precursors. I’m not familiar with those. Guess it’s time to go do some research and see if I can find something out about them. They sound interesting. :)
re: Foxboy – D’oh! You caught me, Skippy. It’s both! ;-)
July 8th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
i think its gravemind
July 8th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
wow a lot of people going to ur site now because of bungie. ; -)
July 8th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
re: dark sparten – Hehe, wouldn’t that be an interesting twist.
re: amazingjakeo – No joke! The Bungierush Special is always good for higher visibility. Believe me – I love it!
July 8th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Oh what a tangled web you weave, I wonder how many iterations your storyline went through before arriving in it’s current form? (I am, of course, assuming you have the entirety of the story written out somewhere)
July 8th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
It would be interesting if Gravemind is speaking this dialogue. If that is true, then in this haloverse, he predates the forerunners.
July 8th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
wow, i just read it start to finish. amazing job. im surprized only one person works on this. how long does it take u to do a page?
July 8th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I’ve already done some research on the Precursers, and here’s what I got.
1) The Precursers were an entire Tier of technology above the Forerunners.
2) They left behind technology, which might have helped the Forerunners, much in the same way that Forerunner technology has helped the Covenant.
3) They perished by unkown means, and left behind a code of rules called the “Mantle.” This states they must preserve all sentient life in the Universe. Hence, the index.
I found your comic today, thanks to Bungie, and have read every single one, from first to last. All I can say is, great job.
EDIT: To natedogr : That’s not known. Not for sure. He is said to come from another Galaxy, but the Forerunners encountered the Flood long after they had reached their peak.

re: Sangheilioz – Oh, you assume too much. :) No, actually, I have the general idea of the story in my mind (and outlined VERY briefly on paper). Mostly, though, I write it as I go, with about three to five days written out ahead of time and an idea of where I’m headed in the long view. :)
re: natedogr – Yes, that WOULD be interesting. ;-)
re: professor sour – It generally takes me about an hour or so per page. About 30% of this time is spent working directly inside Halo 3 to generate my shots. The rest is Photoshop time.
re: Jimbomonkey1234 – Bungie’s been very good to me on that front. Thanks for the info. I’m going to dig through Ascendant Justice’s archives today and see what else I can glean.
