Liking the build in suspense here, and the mystery
I’m loving the middle left box, with the view across Reclaimer, were you trying to get that or is it just an awesome coincidence?
Oh and I also love the mix of light and dark in this one, really helps to build the tension
re: JimboMonkey1234 – Hehehe. The red had the intended effect.
re: mendicantbias00 – Oh, just wait. Things are only just starting to heat up!
re: lilskii – That was definitely a deliberate screenshot. I do generally try to make each shot as visually interesting as I can. It’s nice when I can actually pull one off that’s pretty. And thanks! I had fun playing with shadow with this one. I’m glad the effect works as intended.
I think that he’s just walked into a Slipspace rift, into a simulation not unlike the ones before. Possibly the rift was on part of the Todash jump, and that is why RL is confused.
Left a few suprises,ewwwwww!No,really.My crystal ball predicts explosions,booby traps,at least one elite,And a death…....The suspense is rising ( for reclaimer )
Oh dear.
RE: Jim, what Isaid about the other comic was a joke. It’s supposed to imply that you jumbled together a few random words to make a sentence that makes sense. Pretty bad joke.
@ Jim-the best one my wild imagination can provide! Actually about the comic, though,I thinks a certain AI trveling with reclaimer is going to have something bad happen to it….
I like where this is going.
Oh, and I love the bottom left box. It doesn’t even look like it’s from the map Highground. You are doing a great job with the screenshots.
Nice comic/graphic novel. I have a few theories.
I think that either they have entered the viper base.
Eternal Refuge may be an AI and its gone rampant (like 343 Guilty Spark)
Or Chaos has discovered their presence & is trying to lead them to him.
I wonder how you are going to explain the Tank Form In Cold Storage
re: Someguy – That pure form is going to be my favorite part in the whole Reclaimer storyline, I think. I knew what I was going to do with it the minute I saw because it already fit perfectly into the story.
everything in panel 1-5 was covered in the last comic… but panel 6 makes up for all of it zomg i cant wait…so when he goes in the base is everything going to be flipped? if so is he suddenly going to be left handed?
It took me a moment to figure out the perspective in the fifth panel, that view-flipping jumbled me.
It would be funny if they walked in, just find the Cavalcade member, and leave without incident. Build up all the suspense and then let us all down. But then I might kill you.
Took a screen of the computer, then cut/pasted an image of the Reclaimer into it. If you look closely, you can see the blue outline where Jim didn’t quite cover the entire screen.
re: PikminGod – Haha, that would definitely shake things up even more wouldn’t it?
re: Nathan – Well, we’ll have to see how things play out.
re: Torrent – Funny, perhaps, but certainly less interesting. No, it’s safe to say that it won’t be that easy.
re: Mysterioso2006 – I simply took one image and cropped it to fit the viewscreen on the computer to make it look like a monitoring station.
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – Actually, the blue outline is the border of the screen. I left that exposed deliberately because that’s the way it actually is.
So what edition of Photoshop are you running on, Jim? I was trying to find some of the text effects you used on the older comics, but I couldn’t! D=. I thing I’m running on an older one than you [/sniffle].
re: Uzi_Master – I used Photoshop 6 on most of the first ones. The last twenty or so have been done in Photoshop CS3. The filter I’ve used on every single one is Poster Edges, under Filters—> Artistic. The filter looks different on the early comics because I applied it a bit differently than I do now. Originally, I was cropping/resizing my images then applying the filter. Now, I filter first, crop/resize (all one operation) second. It’s actually been requested that I write a “How To” article at some point, and I’ll try to do that here in the somewhat near future and walk anyone who’s interested through a step-by-step process of how I make each Reclaimer comic.
I think the reclaimer should discover how to make comics, and we’l be able to follow his progress, with help from some AI and an unruly elite trying to prevent him from reaching his friday update
sorry, I’m feeling random this evening
ooh, on the subject of tutorilas, it would be good to have a competition where you produce the start of an episode, could be a small spin off or the main story, and then have a competition to see who can complete it the best, marks for style, content, screenshots and similarity to the original. The winners would be published the week after
I just think that would be awesome, anyone with me?
I know it would make loads more effort for you, but it’s just an idea
re: lilskii – Hey, random is good. Oh, and I’ve actually been contemplating a competition of some fashion for several months now. I will definitely be doing something or other, hopefully here somewhat soon. So, keep your eyes peeled for an announcement.
re: Mysterioso2006 – Consider it on my to-do list.
re: Nathan – I do try to mix it up a little bit. Most of the major characters have their own font and color to help identify a little more quickly who’s talking.
re: JimboMonkey1234 – Orange box??! And yes, I’ve been preoccupied with the missing Bungie announcement (see the most recent news post). I’m eager to see what’s up Bungie’s sleeve.
re: PikminGod – It’s a good thought, but it would be incredibly difficult to execute. Since the Halo IP does not belong to me, all I can do is write fan fiction like Reclaimer around it. In order to publish Reclaimer, it would require an agreement with Microsoft, something I’m not likely to get even were I to pursue it. I appreciate your vote of confidence, though!
re: JimboMonkey1234 – Ah, that border. I do different text formatting for different things throughout the strip. So, yes, you probably did see an orange stroke around some text at some point – and you may again.
First comment!
I like the eerie red text. [sarcasm]Could it be…hostile?[/sarcasm]
Ohhhh i LIKE where this is going!

i love the way that by fliping the images horizontally i dont recognize the map
Its amazing the difference that makes.
i bet the gate shuts!

re: Larrykan – Thanks!
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – I will reveal no secrets – at least, not right away.
re: Mysterioso2006 – You have a crystal ball?!
re: Matoro3311 – Hehe, I figured it was something like that – and I took it as a joke, with a little repartee of my own in response.

Sheer Beauty. AI rampancy ftw

It would be interesting if there more elites. Could other elites be involved?
It took me a moment to figure out the perspective in the fifth panel, that view-flipping jumbled me.

how did you make that last panel?

No Wednesday comic? D:

@ lilskii-cool Idea! And there could be a whole Guest strip section! Like ZZoMBIE13!
I do enjoy the red text. It is a nice tough to have text in different colors.
Jim! Where did the orange box that used to hug your text go!
On another note, have you been preoccupied with Bungie’s announcment as well? For the past few days, that’s about the only thing I’ve thought about.

zOMG are you ever going to try and get this published? i would buy it!
I remember some sort of orange highlight that used to go all around you text. Maybe I just imagined it.
