Reclaimer - A Halo 3 Comic

Just as an FYI – starting around noon today until noon on Monday, I’m going to be out of town on vacation.  As a result, responses to your comments and questions over the weekend will be spotty at best and simply non-existent at worst.  So if you don’t hear from me for a few days, you’ll know why.

I’ve also got Monday’s comic in the hopper already, and it will show up right on schedule Monday morning.  (Would someone like to post up the news announcement on the HBO forum once Monday’s page is live?) So never fear – you Reclaimer groupies will be able to get your fix per normal.

Technically, I’m going to be on vacation all the way through Tuesday (which is my birthday, so I’m taking a day off from work) because let’s face it – who wants to work on your birthday?  Now, I’m not making any promises, but at this point I’m planning to put together a tutorial on how to make a Reclaimer comic during my day off at home on Tuesday.  I know at least a couple of you have requested one, so I’m going to try to write up a step-by-step process for how I go about making a page.  This tutorial will be a technical one, focusing primarily on the graphic editor work (since by now, I’m sure most everyone knows how to Forge maps and capture screenshots).  Later I may try to write one on the actual writing process, if there’s enough interest in that side of things.

Anyway, that’s just a heads-up on what’s coming down the line.  I’ll also hint that I’m going to try to run some sort of contest in September for folks to create their Reclaimer comic spin-offs.  I’ve no idea what sort of prizes I’ll have to offer at this point, so I’m going to be playing it by ear just a bit.

I hate to do this to you all, but Reclaimer is taking a little break today.  Actually, the break was taken yesterday.  It being my birthday and all – and, believe it or not, the necessity to recover from my vacation – I ended up not feeling like doing anything at all yesterday.  So, that means that the next Reclaimer installment didn’t get made.  Many apologies.  Put away the torches and pitchforks.  Reclaimer will be back as scheduled on Friday – and next week the final answers to Outpost 77 will be revealed.  Promise.

I’m sure by now that a lot of you have probably seen this video.  If not, then take a look.  If these are things that Bungie is bringing down the Pike for Halo 3, then this is going to mean very, very good things for Reclaimer.  I’ve wanted to be able to add some NPC-type characters to the comic for awhile now, and even be able to make custom maps – and it looks like we’ll be getting that opportunity soon.  I can’t wait to see what all Bungie has up their sleeves for us!
