79 - Price of Purchase
My thanks go out to Amer then00b for heads-up on a films in his file share that let me capture the stunning image in the first panel, as well as the subsequent panels in today’s comic. It really added a nice touch to the atmosphere. If you’re curious, the shot in the first panel comes from beneath Snowbound, and panels two and three come from outside Cold Storage, with the fourth being of the Pure form inside Cold Storage itself.
Also, take a poke over into the forum and check in at this thread. It’s a one-stop shop for frequently asked questions about Reclaimer and the site. If you’ve got specific questions you’d like answered, that’s the place to ask ‘em. I can’t guarantee that all questions will be answered, especially if they’re items that are yet to be revealed, but if you’re unclear about anything or just want to know how to get a cool avatar, pop in over there and ask.

I have only one question that needs answering before I can move on to the others: Who is speaking here?
August 20th, 2008 at 2:01 am
Huh forerunners?
Is it a forerunner who is speaking and why is the comic named price of purchase?
Bah! Jim, damn you and your big words, and your small complicated ones.
P.S Somebody likes photo shop filters! (unless they’re the in game filters)

very nice as usual i’ll have to use my mind grapes on this one
August 20th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Just like with the rest of the pages, I’ll have to say: wow.

re: Sangheilioz – That is something you’re either going to have to wait awhile on or figure out for yourself. I deliberately didn’t reveal the speaker here. :)
re: linx1398 – The title is an implication of the dialogue in today’s comic. And the filter is the same one I use on every comic – Photoshop’s Poster Edges to give it that pseudo hand-drawn look.
re: Hitokirix – Heh, mind grapes, huh? What are those, exactly? ;-)
re: Amer then00b – Thanks, man, and thanks for the great source material. I really like the way it came out for this one.
August 20th, 2008 at 8:46 am
awesome as usual =]
just curious though: do you have it all planned out already or do you make it up as you go along?
August 20th, 2008 at 8:53 am
It seems to me that Ferial, master manipulator, is being manipulated himself
August 20th, 2008 at 8:55 am
wooh!!cold storage!!! love it, nice out of map screen shots, and I love the tie in with the flood, quite crafty
im excited now, tryin to think where this could be going? my main theories are that this it(do i say “he” or “it”?) is what either the calcavade, ferial, or Viper answer to (most likely Ferial), I also think this definitely ties into Archimedes and it being the deciding factor in the struugle of good vs evil
I hope the new theories amuse you
August 20th, 2008 at 9:07 am
re: DUM4S5 – The short answer is – It’s a little bit of both. I actually get asked this question quite a lot, so I’ll make sure to include in the upcoming Reclaimer FAQ and provide a longer answer.
re: Rosco128 – [insert evil laughter here]
re: lilskii – You’re starting to see how things tie in together now, aren’t you? :)
August 20th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Well thought out and intelligent as usual. RAMPANT SPECULATION TIME!!!
August 20th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Of course… I see it all now.

makes me want to pick up halo 2 again and play ternimal
August 20th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
re: Herald – Hey, there will be no Rampancy here… actually, go ahead. Knock yourselves out. :)
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – “It looks so clear to me now!”
re: PikminGod – Yeah, I’ve been a little nostalgic for Halo 2 myself lately, especially Ascension. Man, I miss that map.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I love that first panel. What is said there is actually sorta moving to me,whether meant to or not.Sorry for my complaint monday. I guess its better than seeing Reclaimer run around and shoot things.
August 20th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
O.O
Didn’t see that coming. :P
August 20th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Pikmin God, I feel the same way, the nostalgia came flooding back
I’ve had a bunch of theories floating around for a while now, they’re slowly being cast aside one by one with new episodes
just a random thought, I know this would be mentally hard and will probably never happen, but turning this into a full blown machinima video would just be awesome,I’m just imagining episodes in my head, and its looking good
August 20th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
re: Matoro3311 – And that’s the way I like to do it. :)
re: lilskii – And don’t think I haven’t considered doing a Reclaimer machinima, especially now that I have a capture card of my own. I’d like to do some sort of Reclaimer minisodes here at some point, but I’ll admit that I haven’t even gotten into the planning stages for such a venture yet. But don’t be surprised if you see something like that appear at some point in the future.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
@ Jim-One thing that might help if you do do this,is to pick up a manga,or any other comic that became a TV/movie,and compare the two.I do that alot when I read…...uh…...naruto.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
I’m pretty sure everyone’s thinking it, but if there’s anything any of us could do, please let us know. We’d be happy to help. Isn’t that right guys?
(If not, then at least me)

re: mysterioso2006 – I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip. :)
re: Amer then00b – Well, it’s going to be a while before I’ll be able to take on a project like this, at least a couple of months, I expect, but I’ll definitely keep you all in mind when I’m ready to start, make this a Reclaimer community project. :)
August 20th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
no prob
August 20th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
If you need any sort of help, at all, with the Machinima (if you do make one), don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve made one already, a lengthy one at that, and I’m making one right now. I’m not the best, but I can help with the basic stuff.
This sounds cool. This is reminiscent of Gravemind, a nearly omnipotent being who has lived for many millennium, and holds great intelligence and mysterious motives. Close, anyway. Though, it can’t be, the Flood were created by this “thing”. Perhaps Precursor? The possibilities are endless.
Could the Cavalcade be the product of this being?
EDIT: How do I post in the FAQ page? The reply box is too low, and I can’t scroll down to reach it.

re: JimboMonkey1234 – Thanks for the offer of assistance. When the time comes, I’ll post a general announcement/recruitment post in the news section. :)
And yes, what HSAR said – in order to post on the forums, you have to be registered and signed in. It’s a necessary evil to keep spammers away.

hey if you need some sweet pics checkout my screenshots on bungie.net my gamertag is vaulkin83
August 21st, 2008 at 9:35 am
it sound to me like a gravemind is the one speaking here! If not prove me wrong
August 21st, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Awesome new episode. Oh.. the suspense!
August 21st, 2008 at 1:46 pm
@Jim – I expected nothing less… or more…
August 21st, 2008 at 3:04 pm
the flood is extragalactic and so it the “unknown speaker” (from what he says i am assuming this) so…...
Completely new character akin to a puppet master pulling the strings of everyone?
possibly one of the other unities ferial mentioned in episodes 60-61?
August 21st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Hey, Jim. If you need any help I would also be willing to do so. I mean, think of what you could accomplish with an extra 4 controllers available! (though you can’t lower guns on LIVE…)
August 21st, 2008 at 8:57 pm
What the hell, why don’t we pull in the entire Reclaimer fanbase for an epic 16-player battle!?
Only question is: Do you need Xbox Live to play in an online custom game? I’m considering buying it, but it only says that matchmaking is from Xbox Live.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:38 pm
re: vaulkin – Thanks! I’ll keep it in mind! :)
re: Chanchu Mohan – Well, I guess only time will tell, won’t it? ;-)
re: ShellShock – Thanks for the compliment. Keep reading! :)
re: Sangheilioz – Of course. Because I do my darndest to keep you guessing. :)
re: so and so – Well, the way things are playing out, it won’t be horribly long before you find out.
re: Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – The Reclaimer fanbase is quite a bit larger than a 16-player lobby will be able to hold, sadly. But I might try to organize something here at some point. I’ve got a LAN to prepare for first, but once we get into September, I’m going to work on preparing some special events for Reclaimer fans.
And yes, you do need to have Xbox Live to play custom games online.

Did I hear a keyword – machinima?
If you are going to create a Reclaimer machinima in the future, could I perhaps erm… star in it? Or help in some way?
November 17th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
DaChiefOfOwnage: I’d definitely like to do some Reclaimer machinima here at some point. I’m waiting on a couple of things before I do, though, but hopefully some of these things will come to fruition by the start of the new year. Once I’m ready, though, I’ll definitely put a general callout for puppet masters and voice actors and see where things go from there. :)
November 18th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
That sounds cool. I’ll always be here. Or there. Or… Well you know what I mean :D
