The first Reclaimer Comic Contest continues apace. The submissions are trickling in at the moment, but I expect as we get closer to the deadline, the trickle will become more of a Flood.
The prize pool for the contest gets better by the minute. Just this evening, one awesome reader (Amer then00b) offered up 1600 Xbox Live points, and I am adding in a signed print of any comic from the Reclaimer archives. That brings the pot up to one signed Forerunner print from PAX 2008, a hooded Reclaimer sweatshirt (signed by yours truly), 1600 Xbox Live points, and one signed Reclaimer print. Stay tuned for further updates.

What!!! Asking for directions? I thought the reclaimer was a guy…...........or it that too sexist of a comment? Just kidding.
So now that RC is heading back maybe we will get to see how Viper is doing with their little enigma and hopefully a little more about Ferial too.
Anxiously awaiting more story.
@Distefant
If we’re going with stereotypes, then your exclamation was perfectly legitimate. After all, The Cavalcade members in his head ARE rather like backseat drivers…
Good work as usual, Jim. I found a typo this time, and I’m fairly certain it actually is one… “I need to call a hiatus this little project” should be “I need to call a hiatus on this little project”, emphasis on the word “on”.
Great comic as always, and I’m glad the Reclaimer’s side of the story is being moved foreword again. It was far too long since we had heard from the title character.
agree with mendicantbias00 awesome start to a Friday!!
Curious if the delay of finding the other calvacade members will mess with Ferial's plan!
Last panel is epic Jim, well done!!!
Perfect way to start a Friday!
You’d think Ferial would have thought of that and planned for it…
And how are Reclaimer and the Cavalcade going to get back? They got there in the first place using the Todash protocal, but how to get out?
And yay! Jim remembered to flip the screenshots of outside the base.
why does one cavalcada member have a white box around his speech, but not the other?
love the last panel btw
@Sangheilioz – that’s too funny, my wife laughed at that one, then smacked me in the back of the head.
But Silver Fox does have a good point, how are they going to get back?
@ Sangheilioz – Yep, you’re right. I’ll try to get that fixed here a little later on today.
@ TrAvIs 6t6 – Eh, it’s only been a couple of weeks.
@ PikminGod – I prefer to let the Cavalcade dialogue stand by itself where possible. I only put it in a text balloon when the background is so busy that the dialogue would be difficult to read.
@Distefant
That’s even funnier, because my girlfriend laughed at it and said it was true. =P
I wouldn’t worry about them getting back, I’m sure the Cavalcada know their way around. It’s gotta be disorienting for RC though, I mean he found the first Cavalcada when he jumped off a cliff, and then the second one when he DROVE off a cliff… I’m sensing a pattern here though; the way you find Cavalcada members is to behave like a lemming.
I think I’m going to make my next forum post something that’s actually directly related to Reclaimer. Probably a comic made of other people’s screenshots (my 360 is being fixed now) concerning the iconic Halo antagonists that we know almost nothing about in the Reclaimerverse: the Covenant. Yeah, Jim, could explain the Covenant a bit more? That would be great.
Arby will be there too.
...and I’d still like to know how to use italics in these posts.
@ the silver fox – I have plans to go back and cover the backstory of the Reclaimerverse, so in this case I’m going to make you wait a bit. I’m not sure if I’ll start that project before or after I finish the current story arc. Right now, I have about three other story arcs I’d like to run besides the current one. You guys will be the first to know about them as they come about.
I’d still enjoy the chance to explore a bit on my own, especially seeing how an Arbiter would serve as someone who seems like he would hate Ferial for tampering with Forerunner technology, prophets or not. Besides, this would be a great experience in comic making.
And, HOW TO USE ITALICS?
@ the silver fox – No, by all means, feel free to explore it yourself. I’d love to see what you put together. Mostly I was just making you aware of the fact that I plan to do a whole story arc on the Covenant in the Reclaimerverse.
You can do italics the old-fashioned way and use HTML markup, or you can use the Textile way and put underscores on either side of the text you want to italicize. For a full list of Textile markup shortcuts, check out the official site.
Testing italics...yay it works.
I should have “Arbitration” up sometime this weekend. I’ll let you know if I need help with pictures.
@ Sangheilioz
Hmmm, trying to remember where there is a bridge…...................
@ Jim
Really like the shot sequence with this page, it definetly gives a sense of motion and travel as RC moves out of the base.
@the silver fox: sorry about the AI comment. I checked and the name of the AI on the military training facility is Déjà. Oops.
Italisized
Arr mateys! Today be talk like a pirate day!
Thank ye for having each cavalcade be having thar own color again!
....Ok, Im done. But anyway, I am glad that each one will have its own seperate color. I see Reclaimer is finally taking charge again.
On a separate note, I was doing some archiving today. And I had some questions about the development of Reclaimer. Where was the main ispiration of the Reclaimerverse from? How long did the story take to finish from start to end?
On a seperate note, I was doing some archiving. And I was wondering something.
Looks like someone’s been playing some of The Maw…
@ nevets 91: That’s OK. In the event that I need to change it, I would have simply switched from Roman to Greek (the Greek name for the goddess of dawn is Eos). Aurora it is, then.
@ mysterioso: If anyone wants to call me “redbeard” today, they can. What doesn’t make sense is that the rest of my hair is brown.
Don yer Pirate gearrr and get rrready fer some land lubbin! For today be type like a pirate day as well.
Arrgg…
Also, Tis time change be wierd!!
Also, Also, Will there be an overlap of AI speach again or will we just have to differ between seperate and collective talking.
Also, Also, Also, I thought the effect was “Especially cool” : ]
Heh….Implying he’s wise and then he says: “Now, who knows the way back?”
Reclaimer + Jim’s Mind = Awesome results!
@ Amer then00b – Hehe, I’m glad it works out that way.
Third panel, what does that say?
“Poke my head out, get a [bead] on what’s going on.”
Is that a typo or is my eyesight going to hell?
@ Jimbomonkey1234: Bead is correct. It’s just a fancy way of saying get a hang on things or to follow up on what’s going on.
@ nevets 91: Thanks. I apologize for being an ignoramus.
There are many arcane words out there. Not knowing them dosen’t make you a ignoramus, ignoring them does.
The incorrect grammar…. I see it…. It scares me….
Sorry “an Igoramus,” sheesh! You remind me of my friend.
What happened to the chief?
@Mohan – He was an illusion.
@nevets 91 – I’m pretty sure it’s igNoramus.
Sorry, been away. Has the RC’s armor changed? I hadn’t noticed.
@Jimbomonkey1234: I just can’t get it right, can I?
@ Shu Sam Chen (HSAR) – The secondary color has (with deliberation).
Is that to indicated the addition of another passenger in situ?
@ Distefant –
