That’s an interesting coincidence with what I just posted in the forums…It’s under Pelican Down. People listening in on signals they shouldn’t be hearing. Always great.

@PikminGod: The UNSC still exists, so it can be said that they build things to last, as a present time thing.

And you might be mistaking that “D.” in head for an R. It’s cause of the font.

Can’t wait to find out why he needs to hack into the UNSC network. Good job.

@ PikminGod – I just double-checked it, and the spelling is accurate. I think you’re just seeing it funny.

@ the silver fox – I haven’t had time to check the forums yet this morning, but I’ll pop in there momentarily and see what’s new. :)

@ PikminGod – Thanks! I was struck by inspiration on this one for some reason. I think it’s a product of seeing all these cool contest submissions coming in. You guys have re-awakened my creative layout muse.

@ Jimbomonkey1234 – That’s exactly right. The UNSC is still around, so it’s very appropriate to refer to them in the present tense.

@ eggy – Just the way it should be. ;-) Keep reading!

    @ spillits – :)

Heh, “the spelling is accurage”. I just find that funny.

Things are getting organized again. Keep at it, dude.

    @ HolyJunkie – Oh, lord – I can’t believe I did that. That’s hilarious!

My brain works on several things at once, so my fingers are always try to type out all those things at once. I’m always having to go back and correct my typing because two thoughts get blended into each other.

i asked this before but you didnt answer me? what happened to the chief? sorry maybe i was not paying attention that much because of college and homework etc.

  11. Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
    September 24, 2008 at 9:50 am | #

@ Chanchu Mohan – The “Chief” was a code perversion – put in place by Ferial – of the Reticent Mystery’s ability to project a physical form. Mayhap I didn’t make that clear enough in the telling of the story back there.

By insanity I assume you are referring to AI Rampancy?

God, we’re not gonna have a contact harvest styled AI love affair.

Do the cavalcade even have gender? Seeing as humanity’s AI avatars are based on humans, is the same true for the Cavalcade?

I think HSAR is correct, RC is going to do a little spying on what Viper has been up to and maybe try to track down Ferial.
One thing I am trying to figure out is: Does the Cavalcade know of the “master” that Ferial serves or only Ferial? Could be a nasty surprise down the road for everyone.

  17. Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
    September 24, 2008 at 2:02 pm | #

@ BFish – Insanity and Rampancy are not the same thing. A Rampant AI is one that has acquired so much knowledge that it no longer does what its human operators tell it to do. It goes independent, basically. An insane AI is, well, just plain nuts. :)

@ Distefant – Well, now, that is a question, isn’t it? Just how much does the Cavalcade know?

@Bfish – In terms of AI Insanity, think of 343 in the Library level of the first game, and At the end of H3.

it looks like a D now…i would swear it was an R last night…

it just reads wrong to me for some reason

maybe “they build these things to last”...i’m not saying its wrong just everytime i read it, it trips me up, i’m not sure why…o well, its a good comic none the less

  20. Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
    September 24, 2008 at 3:51 pm | #

@ DeathGrunty – I think the jury’s still out on whether Spark was actually insane. Personally, I think he was just eccentric and very committed to his job, which was to maintain, monitor, and protect the Halo installations. His berzerker at the end of Halo 3 was, to me, simply him trying to carry out and fulfill his duties.

I agree that his berserk moment was to protect the rings and to help the activation of them. But, in the Library all his humming and comments, all of his behavior seemed out of whack the the other Monitor we saw (The red one, I think.) But not only that, he attacked the Chief, Arbiter and Johnson, full well knowing that when they were dead, there would be no one there to activate all seven rings from the Ark once it was completed.

I <3 your awesome photoshop skills!
So, uh… could you answer my questions I had about the development of reclaimer? plz?

  23. Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
    September 24, 2008 at 4:14 pm | #

@ DeathGrunty – I dunno. I’ve read transcripts of Spark’s sing-song comments and didn’t see anything there that bespoke insanity to me. I’m not surprised that his mannerisms would be different from Tangent’s. From what I’ve seen, AIs are not cookie cutters of each other, so it would make sense that their personalities would vary, even wildly so.

@ mysterioso2006 – Refresh me on which questions those were…

In comic # 89. They were:
Were did you get the ispiration for Reclaimer from?
How long did the story take to come up with from start to finish?
and then I have some others.
Do you have any works predating Reclaimer?
Do you have any suggestions for comic writers?

This has a very miniscule small chance of being a sort of interview thread on my small bungie.net group it may be seen by ten people. If you could answer my questions, that would be great!

    Well…
I have a 360 again! Now I can get to making more fan fictions and my avatar picture idea. Now, if only my Halo 3 disk wasn’t scratched on the very last level, then I could try to get the “Annual” achievement…
Otherwise, lookout, HSAR. You have competition…that’s just as burdened by homework as you are.

@Fox: Eeek! BTW, how are you going to get ghosts on “Halo”?

  28. Sangheilioz

    September 25, 2008 at 2:08 pm | #

    @HSAR

If you play the last level from the beginning, then when you come back out of the control room, before you go right and head up the ice, go left and look under the ramp that goes to the next level down. There will be four ghosts there. Doing the Halo run in a ghost isn’t too hard, the hard part is keeping everyone together so that nobody gets “dropped”

Similarly, after you get the warthog, if you go left instead of right at the first place where you see the construction tiles and the Forward Unto Dawn, there’s a mongoose tucked back in the corner. Just follow the tiles and you’ll find it.

If you take a left immediately after making a right at the same spot mentioned above, you can also find Brute Choppers (I think those only show up if you’ve played from the start of the level, just like the ghosts).

If these instructions aren’t clear enough, either look me up sometime on LIVE (GT: Sangheilioz) or use Youtube.

Now, if I can just get my friend who doesn’t play Halo very often to either let me borrow his disk, or just swap with me…until then, I got the “2 for 1” achievement the old fashioned way: luck in Legendary Brawl. Now, for one more achievement…just one more…(I’m at 955 gs in H3).

the last original achievement would be “maybe next time buddy”. Of course, I did just get two of the new ones, as well.
