I was wondering what had happened to today’s issue.
Perhaps I missed something but is “Cavalcada” the singular term for a Cavalcade member?
to easy?
heh the guy likes making things hard work, and in the last panel, has he spotted something
I am liking the overlap of the frames, makes it easy to ready but not classic comic bookish, props Jim
I also have a feeling that Reclaimer splitting from all the Calvacade will be to painful for him to bear
Uhh…I dont like the overlap at all. At least it is not as confusing as fridays comic. This one is a lot shorter, anyone else notice?
I think the overlaps, however asthetically pleasing, are not really worth the confusion. The old “three rows” concept was simpler on first glance.
I agree, HSAR. And I dont think they are even “asthetically pleasing”. Looks like the panels are just randomly thrown together sloppily.(hate to sound harsh, but thats how I feel)
The panel placement is your decision, Jim. You are the artist here. I will, however, state that in my opinion, it looks much less professional the way you are doing it now. I like the orderly placement much better, however if you used the overlapping panels sparingly then they could have wonderful effects. You should also experiment with using circular panels (for overlaps) or perhaps diagonal dividers between panels (to show simultaneous action, or perhaps intensify certain points in dialogue). Just ideas!
As for the content itself, I love where you’re taking the story (what else is new, right?) and I hope you keep up the good work!
Diagonal dividers = “split second” (MTG)
other than that, yeah, I kinda liked the other way better as well. Some overlap is okay, but hey, it’s up to you.
Also, to everyone, please check out my most recent forum post, “A Secret from the World”.
I myself preferred the way they were before, but as long as I can read it correctly and easily I don’t really care. Its your comic.
i love all the shots in this comic
o btw new art style? the filter looks much different..or is it just the sunny-ness of zanzibar?
i just noticed he is in the same pose from the same angle in the first and last panels…bringing it around full circle are we?
its gotta be a different filter…
actualy it's not called Zanzibr it;s from H3 s o it's Last Resort
Well done, can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Ok, ok, ok – apparently this bit of layout creativity was a bad idea. I didn’t think it’d be all that confusing, but it seems I was wrong. I’ll go back to the original layout style.
@ PikminGod – Nope, it’s the exact same filter, and all the shots were taken in a sequence of the Reclaimer running along the catwalk.
well then jim you amaze me! cuz it looks like a completly different comic to me and i knowits only rock and roll and i like it
o just to be sure you did get my comic right? for some reason i have been freaking out that you diddnt get it…
@Jim: It’s all part of evolution. The adaptation that receives the best feedback dominates
^^^^
I personaly like the layout creativity. It breaks it up a bit and creates more action in the strip. Although it can go too far and instill confusion, but that just makes it more fun to figure out. In addition, Giving it a rigid order creates a bland feeling in the flow.
Also, what does he mean too easy? How could it get any harder?
@ Nevets 91: Umm…Halo: Combat Evolved. The Library. Things can ALWAYS get worse.
Jim the big 100 is coming ohhhh soo close…did you expect to be doing this comic so long and have such a good following? I mean dude your like… up there with Lucas now
@ PikminGod – Yup, I got it. I thought I’d replied to you as such, but perhaps I only thought I did.
@ kr8tos187 – Whoa, are you comparing me to ol’ Georgie-boy?
I’ll be honest – I knew I’d still be doing Reclaimer at this point, but I really only expected to be doing it for myself and maybe two or three readers. I never expected it to grow to be as big in the Halo community as it is right now. I’m floored by the way this little community has grown over the last few months. You all just blow me away.
As for blowing people away, I’ve been showing my friend “Captain Dowling” some selections of a story I am currently trying to write (I posted an excerpt from it on comic number 88), and I recently showed him a selection from near the ending. All I will say is that his response when I asked him how surprised he was at the reveal in the ending was “11/10”.
Now, to write the rest of the story in such a way that I can preserve that moment…
And just for laughs:
“Those things burn good, don’t they?”
“Yeah.”
-Two soldiers talking about a burning Brute.
personally i like the overlapping design and am wondering how its confusing
@ bansheeflier1015 – I’m glad you mentioned that. I’m kind of in the same boat. But, if more people than not find the layout confusing, I’m happy to switch back.
