So, I’ve been playing around with some Photoshop actions, filters, and techniques that produce some very cool and interesting pictures. These are the sort of things that really demonstrate the kind of stuff that you can do with Photoshop. I’ve really enjoyed playing around with these the last few days, so I thought I’d share the wealth. Below is the same screenshot as the Reclaimer wallpaper I released the other, modified five different ways for five different kinds of atmosphere – y’know, just for giggles. Enjoy!

This is actually the second script I wrote for today’s comic, which is a complete rewrite of the original. After completing today’s comic, I realized that the dialogue did not fit the context at all, but since it did reveal one or two major plot points, I opted to postpone it, rather than scrapping it altogether. The disadvantage I ran into was that Monday’s comic closed with a cliffhanger that was supposed to lead into my original script for today, so I had figure out how the Reclaimer would handle the situation to so that a slight change of pace would fit and seem at least somewhat natural. Hopefully, I did a passable job.
I should also mention that there is now a kickass Reclaimer wallpaper available in the downloads section in a variety of sizes.

Here’s a bonus item – a screenshot from an upcoming Reclaimer comic, all gussied up and ready to go out on the town. It’s currently in 800×600 resolution, but if folks like it enough, I might be persuaded to make a few other sizes for wallpapers. Enjoy!
800×600 | 1024×768 | 1140×900 | 1280×800 | 1400×10500 | 1600×1050 | 1600×1200 |

Yesterday marked one year since the inception of Reclaimer! It’s actually a little hard to believe that things are still going this strong a year later. When I started Reclaimer, I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew that I wanted to write and produce a Halo-based comic, but I had no idea if I could something like that. It’s been a growing process, and it’s been a lot of fun so far. I have you all to thank for a lot of that. I would have enjoyed doing this, even if I’d been the only one to read it, but having an audience to play to makes this a thousand times more worthwhile to me – and you all have been immensely patient with me and gone through the growing pains with me. It’s been an awesome year, and I look forward to another fantastic year with all you wonderful people.
I had hoped to try to have the first official Reclaimer short story written in time for this posting, but alas, life has again gotten in the way. For my wife and me, this is the middle of our pre-winter prep for our farm, so a lot of my free time in the evenings this week has been spend getting stalls ready for horses and repairing barns. I do plan to work on a couple of Reclaimer projects over the weekend, though, so hopefully I’ll have something to show for that come Monday.

I’ve got to say – this is not exactly the direction I expected today’s comic to go. But once I started writing, it kind of took on a mind of its own, revealing a substantive part of Viper’s master plan. I hope you like it, and if you look back in the archives, I think you’ll start to find some common links to other recent events.
*Edit: It should also be noted that The Catfish has submitted another eight comic pages and can be viewed in his comic gallery.

Sorry about the missed comic on Friday. I spent the weekend in Louisville and so wasn’t able to get any work done on Reclaimer (though I did take quite a lot of pictures for my photoblog). I’ve also noticed that a lot of comments have been posted since Wednesday, and I’m going to make a concerted effort to get caught up on those.

Here it is, gang, the long-awaited #100. And it only took me a year to get to it, thanks in part to the encouragement from all of you that’s helped me keep up with a more consistent publishing schedule. Thanks so much for making it so much fun, and here’s hoping the next 100 go as well.
