Thanks for all the well-wishes. I’m feeling much better, and it’s nice to not have a thousand little men inside my cranium pounding away with their little pickaxes. So, how about we ring in a week of Reclaimer with a bang, eh?

Can Someone Say “Halo 3 Recon” Style? :L
A Rampant AI? Oh Deary Me Mr R.
Giddings: Let’s be extremely clear – Insane is NOT Rampancy. They are very different things.
o no jim so many flaws
panel 3 D2: “We have detected multiple Cavalcada signals” should read either: “We have detected multiple Cavalcade signals” or “We have detected multiple Cavalcada”
well i guess that’s the only one
i do like the whole “Hey you have this big dangerous quest, but your shields are useless and we have no way to repair them, just don’t get into a fight and you won’t have any issues” I wonder how an insane AI will do when he merges with RC!!
PikminGod: Nope, my grammar there is spot-on accurate. If it had been ‘multiple Cavalade signals’, that would imply that they detected several new unities. ‘Multiple Cavalcada signals’ implies that they detected multiple signals, each originating from an individual Cavalcade member. It’s the distinction between singular and plural I needed here, and I definitely needed to indicate singularity. So, thanks for playing, but there is definitely no error here.
I’m done speculating. Just gonna enjoy the ride
Oh and Hi everybody!
DeepCee: What, do I keep shattering your expectations or something? ;-D
So is Ferial counting on RC finding this “Insane” Cavalcade? Going to be interesting to see how he reacts to it…Well played.
You know what I mean
Reclaimer needs to get his armor fixed up, or he’s probably not going to survive the next action scene.
HolyJunkie: And if you think I have any idea how the Reclaimer is going to find that solution, you’d be sorely mistaken. I think I’ll find out right about the same time he does.
Well, there must be some Forerunner armouries intact, right…?
cool, way to keep me guessing jim. Question though, if RC’s armor is fuzed to his body, how would the UNSC engineers be able to repair it? Also, i haven’t gone back to conform this, but didnt the UNSC pretty much disown him eraly on? Like when feral attacked the compound that RC was training at? Just wondering. Keep up the great work!
P.S. You should try to get theses pubilhed in an actual comic book form, I’d pay to have a hardcopy of it.
Death Punisher: Well, for starters – yes, his armor is bonded to his body. This does not mean, though, that certain outer pieces cannot be removed for the purposes of maintenance. Secondly, yes, the UNSC terminated the Reclaimer program in favor of Blackhammer (a.k.a. Viper), so it’s not terribly likely that any UNSC engineer would ever help the Reclaimer with his repairs. But the Reclaimer is an incredibly capable soldier, so the odds are well in his favor in terms of successfully completing an infiltration to acquire the parts he needs to effect repairs. The trouble is in finding time to make it to a UNSC warehouse with the appropriate components, around gathering the Cavalcade, fending off both Viper and Ferial, and saving the galaxy from imminent doom.
Ferial is known to frequent this installation, i wonder if he will show up? He has to get together with Reclaimer at some point, that is how the story starts.
An insane Cavalcada… Sounds like 343 Guilty Spark, to me. So THAT’S how you’re getting around the whole “only 3 different powerups” thing with representing the Cavalcada!
Seriously though, Two big twists in a row? I’m feeling a little spoiled, Jim!
I wonder if its significant that one of the Cavalcada was called ‘insane’ and not ‘rampant’? Or, maybe it just doesn’t matter.
Sheesh, armor on the fritz, armed with only a pistol, Reclaimer is not in good shape. Maybe he’ll get some help from…well…really, aside from the Cavalcada, no one else is really on the Reclaimer’s side o.o
Diamondking: Well, my first comment in this thread ought to answer the significance question.
sorry jim, it was early and my son was being bad when i read it, i actually thought about it at work today, and discussed it with my RC buddy i work with, and he said i was wrong, SORRY JIM
o btw, panel 5 gives me this huge feeling that the instillation is about to crush RC
Arrrrg, No edit button!!!!
Reclaimer-aid He, He.
Seriously though, great comic, and crazy AI to boot!
*ReclaimerChievment Unlocked
*Nevets’ Folly IV
*You can’t figure out the edit button
(this part right here was added using the edit button…lawls)
[o look a second edit, man i rule]
Reply to Jim: Sounds like the comic I’m making, in terms of “making things up as the plot starts rolling.”
PikminGod: No, it’s all good. It’s just that I don’t like to take the blame for errors that don’t actually exist.
It doesn’t help that I more or less coined the singular version of Cavalcade to indicate an individual member, so it doesn’t necessarily sound or read the way someone might expect. But it is singular, so the syntax I used in the dialogue was correct – and being the grammar aficionado that I am, felt compelled to launch a mini diatribe on the subject.
And I suspect Nevet’s issue with the edit button may have been more technical than anything, so go easy on the fellow, aight?
HolyJunkie: Honestly? That’s the approach I’ve used for most of this storyline. I just let the story write itself, for the most part. Some days I have to ‘force’ the issue more than others, but a lot of days, the story just kind of flows, and I end up as surprised as you guys. No joke. Now, mind you, I know the BIG picture – the major plot points, how the story will end, etc. – but for the details, a lot of it comes out on a comic-by-comic basis. From what I understand from reading other authors, a lot of story writing is like this. Oftentimes, the events that take place surprise even the author. It’s a lot of fun.
I, as an author, definitely agree with and can affirm that most of the writing process is just flying by the seat of your pants and letting the story tell itself.
Sangheilioz: And in many ways, that usually makes for a better story, particularly if you don’t fight it. So many elements of the Reclaimer storyline have shifted and changed since I first conceived it, that it resembles my original idea only slightly. And I think it’s a much better story for it.
Goes to show my attention to detail ^^;, sorry about that. It was bolded and everything, yet the often missed signs are sometimes the most obvious. Well, for me at least.
Diamondking: No worries. You get a comment thread that goes beyond about 10 responses, and people tend to start glossing over things.
Same here, I at least know how DEAD will end.
Jim, if you put the power-ups on top of each other using a weapon holder, they will change colors. I’ve checked, and if you use all 12 power-ups, there are exactly 7 different combinations!
Atleast you can make the Cavalcade, right Jim?
I have an Epitaph set that has that. I’ve had it for… a few months actually. I even took a screenshot.
Picture’s not in my saved screenshots, though. That’ll change.
Ya, the proxy at our school has become progressivly more restrictive.
When I first came here, everythng worked. But, soon the gravitars were blocked and now it has started to effect HTTP and HTML code. I just hope it won’t see Reclaimercomic.com as a personal community and block it…
Although, there are always ways around it.
personal community been an issue lately, what school do you go to?
Feral, Like i’ve said before, is the insane and disowned cavalcada. I mean, c’mon, look at the guys name. It litterally means “Wild”. What more proof do you need?
I go to John Marshall Fundemental Secondary School.
proceeds to stalk Nevets 91
As a tip, Nevets, never give out personal information online.
Oh, I know. thanks for warning though. I really think that if anyone wanted to find me, they would have already found my school.
I allways assumed that ‘Reclaimer’ was 343’s name for Spartan117 based on an intended forerunner role ie; To reclaim from the flood by use of ring(s)
@Jim:I haven’t had time to help lately and last bit of script/inspiration ended up posted to the forum… Might be my mistake ?? please let me know.
It would be cool to see more use of stuff like shield generators and more mimic-ing of H3 online gaming-tactics during action sequences..
NMJ out….
Axel Wiresmith: Well, in the original Haloverse, I believe that ‘Reclaimer’ was the term the Forerunner used to specify the heirs of their legacy – humans. In the Reclaimerverse, this is still true, but the human government gave the term a new application when they began their Reclaimer program.
I’m not certain what you’re talking about with regard to script/inspiration being posted to the forum. Can you be more specific?
Great comic, as always. One thing, on panel 5, the Reclaimer is talking using the Cavalcada font.
