Wait, what just happened? Did RC shoot because insane boy in his head acted? wow
Some more information on Ferial, esp how old he is.
Do we have a name for this Calvacada character yet?
We also have a clue as to why when Viper showed up they were not properly dealt with, but only partially. The CVCD member was the one guarding Archimedes. Ferial scored big to lock this guy up in hibernation mode.
The plot thickens. Ferial is a figure of antiquity and possible errant behavior from RC on part of a certain insane member of the group. And what is it about this member that made Ferial take a more “elegant” approach to sequestering it off from the others? (i.e., why was Sempiturnal Chaos considered less of a threat than this guy?)
Hey Jim, I love your series. I’m part of a gaming community and I’m on the news team. I’d appreciate it if you’d lend me some time in an interview…
Wow, Jim might get some more publicity.
on the comic side, since when was this just a projection?
Was it always one or did it do that after feril left
ERROR, ERROR! Second panel, Jim… “You did, however, was free up”. Grammatical policing aside, you have eliminated, and reinforced, several of my theories now. Great comic, as always, Jim! Keep up the good work!
who predicted that the powerup images were just a physical projection?...oh yeah, I did, sorry, predictions coming true is always fun, and insane calcavada was influencing RC, very interesting, Im thinking new calcavcada (dont know or rememebr the name, not sure if he ever got one) will sort him out, assuming that he does actually join the others and RC, by the way was i right in thinking he’s one of the more powerful,if not the most powerful, of the calcavade? Because the bit about the “more elegant” containment system sort of implies that to me.
ooh there’s more, I’m gonna join in with the “how old is Ferial?” question, was he there at the time of the forerunners?(which also begs the question, how did he survive?) Or can this “state of hibernation” last a very very long time?
Well if Ferial has something to do with flood and gravemind, that might be a key to his survival, or maybe he is AI
He reminds me of a character like Mendicant Bias
Just had a thought…
You know how its been revealed ferial is as old as the forerunners?
And you know how there are now (at least) two ferial…
Maybe They are actually an age old clan? Under the name of Ferial.
You know like how the CD talk about Reclaimers as a plural, maybe the name Ferial
applies to the group of beings…
That could explain why they (‘cos there are still two)have been around so long,
A whole family of Ferial, all possibley wearing the same (clan?) armour?
Just my two cents
HA! i was right the insane AI DID leak over to his mind and corrupt him
if you dont believe my claims that i was right check the last comics comments
“Ferial” might not just be a name for a group of people – it could be a species.
How do you people see them calling RC and ferial “plural”(yes i do know what it means) i just dont see that
RC also said “Ferial. HE trapped you too. didnt HE” implying that ferial is singular
RC is the RC just like Arbiter is the Arbiter
They were both given names for what they are or do
EX: the Arbiters name is a religious name and the reclaimers name is given to him for what he does
also master chief is the master chief because it is a rank not a person
DO I MAKE MY POINT CLEAR?!?!?!?!?
Hey, no need to shout, m4573rz3r0. My primary rule for being allowed to comment here is to be polite. That said, if you see an apparent discongruity with certain pronouns in relation to a certain villain that appear confusing, then that is as it should be. I’ve deliberately muddied those waters.
The Reclaimer is always singular. Reclaimers is the Forerunner term for humans.
The Reclaimer is also a reclaimer.
It can get confusing at times…
Correct. The Reclaimer program was a name adopted by the UNSC for the Spartan VI program, borrowed directly from certain secrets uncovered by the ONI. True, our hero is the Reclaimer, but that is only his designation insofar as the program is concerned. He is also one a reclaimer, as identified by the Forerunners. This is a little backstory I haven’t spelled out explicitly yet.
@m4573rz3r0: Seriously. Calm down. You don’t need to put in all-caps to get your point across.
Your evidence is, to put it lightly, not very convincing at all. The RC says what he believes is true. It may not be necessarily what is actually true.
You can say what you like, but don’t go shouting off other people’s theories just because you don’t like them.
I XEcUtiONeR I, I love that idea for Ferial, but with the shapeshifting/the fact that he has appeared as a virus suggests to me that he is more likely to be an AI, and what we see is just a physical form.
Omg new theory: Ferial is a collective, but a collective AI, like the calcavade, possibly a rival set of AIs (if you get where Im coming from with that idea)
Once again m4573rz3r0 calm down, majorly, and I really have to agree with Shu SAm Chen, just because you don’t think somethings true doesn’t mean it’s wrong, last time I checked Jim wrote the comic not you
And I also agree with Shu Sam Chen that your argument doesnt work, in the halo books and other places there are quite a few people mentioned as reclaimers (MC in the games, and Team Katana (I think it’s that team) in Ghosts of Onyx), therefore although the reclaimer we see is The Reclaimer by title, it also refers to many others, quite possibly all or some of the human race (someone correct me if Im wrong on this).
Also, with RC “he trapped you too”, RC doesn’t really see the comments on the comic about him (as in,he doesn’t spend all day thinking up new theories for the comic and arguing about them like us lot) so as far as he knows Ferial is singular and just an Elite
One last thing I only just noticed (I don’t know how many times this might have been mentioned before), but Spartan VI program???!!!! Which leads me to to two questions, 1) In this haloverse what has become of the other programs and what are the advancements (I’m not really expecting an answer with this but it would be cool to see how you envision the advancement of the spartan program, and 2) Isn’t MC abit outdated to have fought with RC (when they took on the flood)? Seeing as he’s only a Spartan II, or did he get upgraded?
Anyway, this has been a really long comment, Im done now
Wort,
I am considering that perhaps the reason Reclaimer shot the AI here is because its mental instability was actually influencing him…
Ferial…a collective entity? Perhaps…
@ lilskii: This is something that was brought up once before, but it has been a while. Most of the discussion took place in the comments, but from what I remember, in the Reclaimerverse, Spartan programs III, IV, and V were complete failures, Reclaimer, the Spartan-VI, was yanked from the Spartan-II program for additional upgrades, including getting his armor bonded to him. Viper (or Blackhammer, before the soldiers went rogue) was the Spartan-VII program.
@ the silver fox – thanks for that, and I haven’t seen all the comments on everything so thanks for clearing that up (p.s. Jim, this might be a good FAQ if it isnt already)
I know the Reclaimer is a singular,
I was just refering to the way the Cavalcade often talk about reclaimers as a plural.
It was only an example, and I’m sorry for any confusion.
But while the RC definately says “he” when refering to Ferial… he has no idea that there is more than one
I hope this clears up my theory
@lilskii – You are right in that reclaimer is referring to most, if not all, of humanity, at least in the Haloverse. In Contact Harvest Mencident Bias applied the term to a large portion of the population on Harvest. The Luminary (the device the Covenant used to find Forerunner relics) identified the human population as ‘Reclaimers’.
im pretty new to the reclaimer comic. when i started to watch bungie.net for updates, i never paid attention to the reclaimer updates because i never read the first one. but yesterday i decided to start at the beginning and i gotta say great job on this Jim. keep’em coming they’re great
I’m just gonna guess that we were supposed to see the Flood infection area in the bottom left corner of the last slide.
Nevets 91, I thought you had 2 be polite when posting and besides I dont get it andUzi Master, the infection area probably has no relevance to the story and is just an accidental byproduct of taking the screen shot from such an angle. I emphasize PROBABLY (I’m not shouting I don’t know how to bold on this) because Jim might turn around and make it all apart of his story just to keep us off guard and guessing. If you notice, you can see small sections of it in other shots. You can’t exactly get away from it in the map..
No, you really can’t, until you keep all screenshots on Isolation strictly up on the top of the half.
Um, I think there is some confusion going on here.
I know I’m comfused
I see the picture I put up was removed. Just incase that was taken as an insult, it was a web comic refering to Icanhascheeseburger.com which m4573rz3r0 mentioned earlier. I couldn’t find it earlier, but, once I did, I put it up.
I’m sorry if that was taken anyother way.
Other than that I can’t see what I did wrong, except that Jim may not have liked having a picture posted.
Please let me know!
Well, I guess my question got answered, but I still have lots more…
