You really have no idea just how big that beam really is until you stand right next to it and take some pictures.
long walk home…
You have no idea…
I hope the Reclaimer has his hiking boot…things…on.
Ooooh… positive side-effect?
What's a positive side effect?
Erm… a side effect that's positive?
I'm talking of the slispace array.
Ahh so you mean by disrupting the slipspace array, then it will somehow foil Ferial or Viper's plans?
Why not? Sounds perfectly reasonable.
Picture this – the Forerunner slipspace communications array is a galaxy-wide network, spanning millions of systems and billions of planets, outposts, and installations. What the Reclaimer is looking at here is but one tiny bit of that, kind of like a single skin cell on the human body.
Just food for thought.
It seems more likely then that the Array will be a way for them to phone a cab then. If the array is out ofalignment, will everyone on the “network” know exactly where they are then?
Hey thats not fair! You took my suggestion! I have mention the slipspace array at least twice in the last few comics!
So I am guessing that Intuitive Portent is another Calvacade member. I was under the impression that Ferial had only imprisoned two calvacade members, hmm. Is it possible that this calvacada was jailed by someone other than Ferial?
He has four in his head, one still trying to free itself at isolation, one here. That makes only one left to be found after this guy.
The beam serves as jailer, but not necessarily by Ferial's hand. More to be revealed soon.
A kind of viral quarantine? Is he infected – or has the system been tricked into thinking that he's infected?
If it is not by Ferial's hand, could it have been by the Forerunner's hands? They split up the Calvacade in fear of them, could they have be especially afraid of Intuitive Portent?
It's… a tad more complicated than that.
or maybe he is the evil AI that will destroy us all… or something fun like that
Huh. Pity I don't own a camera.
It's kind of like Niagara Falls – only completely different.
Not exactly, but I know that you personally, HSAR, will love it. Call it fan fiction fodder.
Mmm… fan fiction fodder…
More than you'd think.
More than you'd think. Forerunner technology is nothing if not durable.
So I guess there is something i do not understand about Todash Gates. I thought they were not physical creation, but holes in the physical universe. I understand the explosion would be release a lot of energy, but I wouldn't think it would affect a gate.
Also why does one kink in the chain continuously cause RC to give up? Easy Solution: create an explosion that will occur seconds after you leave the installation. A sort of Rube Goldberg machine. He would know it worked if he couldn't get back to the area. He would have to use the gate before he blew up the installation anyway because I doubt his armor could withstand an explosion like that. And it appears that this power cuplink is all that is left at the installation, so he wouldn't need to return anyway. I call shens.
Call shenanigans all you want. The hitch in the plan is that the Reclaimer has to be at the installation during the disruption in order to acquire Intuitive Portent. Setting off an explosion large to disrupt the beam would cause fatal damage to the installation, to Portent, and to himself. Hence the reason that option has been ruled out – for now.
The Todash Pathways are tears in the physical universe, it's true, but the Gates themselves are physical portals to the Pathways. They are in fixed positions, and should one be destroyed, those Gates are gone forever, as the technology no longer exists to rebuild them.
O OKAY! I thought IP was being held somewhere else and it was just this beams power holding it. No I understnad
No, Portent is, in a manner of speaking. It's just a matter of getting to it.
I am liking the for now part… I am now ready for a big explosion
OH YEH SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahh yes, but would a minor power disruption be the end of the gate? You talk of both disrupting and destroying the gate… Is there any chance the gate will be temporarily disabled?
No, I talk of disrupting the beam by massive explosion and subsequently destroying the Gate. There are ways of disrupting the beam without causing damage to the Gate.
Nice, like the twist you get a new friend, but we can't teleport away. Parachute? Or feet first into hell?
Um, I'll take what's behind Door #3, Monty.
Super jumping power provided by our newest member to the Cavalcade Club? Kidnapping by Goddard?
Now what if I take the two doors and tell you that the second one is thw wrong answer? which will you choose now?
Now what if I take the first two doors and tell you that the second one is thw wrong answer? which will you choose now?

Best option is to always switch.
It does improve the odds. Then again, that's assuming that at least two out of three options are worth having.
I'm not one-hundred percent, but I think the beam runs on a pull system, so when the power is stopped, there is no longer a vacumm sucking in the power and the circuit is broken effectivly forever.
Great work, Jim. Just one thing, what is ment by plasma and burn?
Oh, and Intuitive Portent is an awesome name for the cavaclada; it fits right in. I've never heard the word Portent, too.
Edit: Judging by the definition in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, this guy is very important.

Portent

Oh, there's a thought. What happens to the power that is no longer being used?

EXPLOSIONZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RECONZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nevets, I think you're just making stuff up now.
It's quite possible. I have just had that idea in my head for a while kinda like draining a pool with just a single hose.
Time to write a fan-fic.

What happend to the recent comments on the left?
'Plasma and burn' was spoken by the insane Cavalcada, so make of that what you will.
And seriously, you've never heard the word 'portent' before? I thought that was a fairly common term.
IntenseDebate had some server issues this morning that was mucking up the works here. I removed the Recent Comments in an attempt to get the site back online. I'll put the module back here in a few minutes.
Apocalypse? Maybe they will accidentally do ferials job 4 him!
With the meddly of word out there, I'm not surprised when I come across ones i don't know.
Also, there doesn't seem to be much lag on the ID comments anymore, over here.
Heh, I just figured that 'portent' had made it into the common vernacular by now.
Oh no, you've got it wrong, Jim. The common vernacular is actually decreasing.
Does the beam run the length of rarrows? Or at least on both sides of the station? I am nowhere near my box to check.
Awesome comic as always, Jim! Are you ever gonna run out of ideas?
Always feet first Catfish.
Certainly makes for an interesting decision for RC, do it the easy way with a bang but lose his way out, or do it the long way but can get out again.
Interesting that a beam of energy can ‘jail’ a Cavalcade, or does Ferial have one of his many claws in this?
well, no explosion… yet. heh heh heh. even without a massive explosion, this was still a great one. loved the part "soo… no explosions then. darn. i really wanted to see something burn." ahaha.
Umm this guy, reclaimer, have we established race, nationality, what even 2 say he aint a he… plz somebody tell me. He sounds so 'aussie' lol. If u have ever met 1…
Very nice comic. I have not interesting speculation to share or any sort of criticism, so I just thought I'd give a thumbs up and say "You rock!"
Thanks, man!
oh… no worries.
Another great comic Jim! Good work!
oops. Im so sorry…. I just realised they went to the next page, but it didn't give me the option to go to the next page… sorry for the quad-post Jim…..
No criticisms, no speculations I'm willing to share, and a whole lot of intrigue. Good work, as always Jim.
There is a delete button, Chris. But, you must hurry, before someone posts on them. (that's why I'm down here)
Jim, this just keeps getting better and better, keep up the great work!
Well, I can't help it if your ideas and my own coincide. I always have the basic plot points planned out about 8-10 comics ahead.
Thanks, Lupus! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Amer! How the heck have you been?! (Where the heck have you been?) I'm glad you like it!
And I hope I never run out of ideas. If I do, then Reclaimer will come to a sudden and ggrinding halt.
And I hope I never run out of ideas. If I do, then Reclaimer will come to a sudden and grinding halt.
It does not. It is only on the one side.
What about underneath the station? Where usually you will be killed by the guardians, unless you hit it right.
The beam doesn't run under there.
Mmhmm… that's what it might have been originally. It's been 100,000 years – how much of it is likely to remain fuctional?
So that would be why it would disable the todash gate.
But, what if it has more of a cancer effect? like 1 cell goes bad, then 2 more, 4, and exponentially puts the others outta sync…
Exactly.
That's kind of sad, actually.
Totally.
