Like he said, it seems he's just running the errands for different masters so they can achieve galactic domination without breaking a sweat. Still, was this one rare moment of lucidity for Fortuitous Destiny, or is it just another random bit of riddle? Just wondering, cause he used RC's rank/name. He's never done that before.
I always like to touch base with past events in the storyline periodically. In this case, it's a reminder to readers that the Reclaimer is a disgruntled and jaded warrior who, while he's accepted the role of savior, is still debating the legitimacy of saving the human race from destruction.
Yeah. He seems really pissed that he's being controlled…even if it's for the good of the universe. He seems to be getting more and more cynical with each passing comic.
Wow, talk about getting the run around.
Any more and they'll be having him go to the center of the shield world.
I can't belive the cavaclade in this one; Sounds like a regular commedy routine.
Especially the red one; He sounds really taken aback by Reclaimer's comment.
And, of course, great comic Jim.
"You just might get your explosion, Reclaimer. But, you won't get to see it. You'll be to busy running around in the moutian."
yea ditto that. It's not like you can just take out a wall panel. Though when RC goes to the "mountain" he might find another way of not only opening the panels but a way to disable the "wires" behind it as well.
i hope that how ever you do make it happen, it will be as epic as some of the other stuff you have done that you shouldnt have been able to do. great job!
I cant help but feel that the crazy characters in this break the 4th wall by having little to no gravitas. I understand that they are crazy but they just seem so out of place. Especially considering they were built by forerunners I doubt they would have this kind of vocabulary or modes of expression. Maybe you have a neatly worded solution and that would be very helpful. =)
I'm not sure you understand what breaking the fourth wall really is. Breaking the fourth wall is when the comic characters realize they're in a comic and begin to address the audience or when the comic author works himself into the comic – and the characters know it. That's breaking the fourth wall. Character gravitas has nothing to do with it.
I've explained before that the insanity of these couple of AI can be chalked up to data errors, corruption of information and processing as a result of degradation of time and wear. The reason why these two speak the way they do, particularly in Rulebook's case, is because they have access to a certain level of human information that has influenced their behavior. This will become more readily apparent later on.
"Yeah, um, my previous employers were a bunch of wacked-out programs who didn't know where they were going or what they were doing. Oh, and I saved the universe from certain doom."
Don't forget, "Secret experiment caused by the Galaxy Wide Governmental forces, replaced by a newer version. Hired by what can essentially be named a madman (although technicly he's an elite) to go and collect Floaty AI programs."
Jim said that the RC and the calvacada are rubbing off on each other so they are learning some of each others vocabulary and expressions. And I mean, they are Forerunner AI so that probably have some sort of adaptive programming that allows them to learn really fast. This is one of those things though that isn't really explained and you just expect. Like how Master Chief activated the Light Bridge in Halo: Combat Evolved. It just helps move the story along without having to explain how "this" works and how "this" does that.
A minor detail to pick at… if the RC had a sniper rifle and battle rifle when collecting Reticent Mystery, how did he get a pistol when blowing up the AI on Isolation, and here?
Well, obviosly his pure awsemoness allows him to use whatever he wants whenever he wants. Thought someone like you would understand that by now. And the more you write, the more I am convinced this guy is Australian!!! Was that like ur intention Jim? How 'bout u HSAR u agree?
It's implied that there's some time and space between the events in which we see the Reclaimer, time enough for him to hit a weapons cache and grab some new toys.
Hey Jim, have you ever thought of using the 'Daddy Spark', the affectionate name given to the monitor of cold storage? I reckon you could make it 2 something… BIG!
Jim, I dont know if you ever thought of this, but, for any scenes where you dont want a weapon to get in the way of dialogue, couldnt you use a spent energy sword, since it will just be the hilt at that point in time?
Yeah, that's been mentioned to me before. I've just gotten so used to seeing a magnum in the Reclaimer's hands that I never really visualize him any other way.
I find that if you use the energy sword, just before the attack happens the character lifts up his left hand in a sort of grasping motion. It kind of looks like using the Force, if that makes sense.
Also another thing that might be useful, if you could get a shot that doesn't include the right hand holding the sword or sword hilt.
i really dislike the "o heavens no" line..he like completely corrects him, then uses a metaphor of what he just acted like was the most stupid statement ever…
i do have a question though…why didnt the cavalcade know about the stuff inside the mountain before hand? first they told him it was impossible, but now they are saying it is possible in a manner of speaking…why would they completely dash out an idea and then a couple minutes later say "its possible but…" did they not know and just recently found out about that option?
Great comic. This one, imo, was funny enough to get me out of lurking. Good job!!!
Always nice to meet another lurker!
I am loving Fortuitous Destiny! Dude is hilarious!
I appreciate the quick catch up with Ferial as well! Good mix of exposition with action. Blending the story very nicely!

Destiny's just a bit more lucid here. It's statements are becoming more and more relevant to the context of the discussion.

He's always been pretty cynical, but he's definitely being more expressive about it right now.
Wow, talk about getting the run around.

This is exactly why the Reclaimer's complaining.
I'm interested to see how you're going to make the panels open.
Heh, so am I.
Ok, so that makes 3 of us.
yea ditto that. It's not like you can just take out a wall panel. Though when RC goes to the "mountain" he might find another way of not only opening the panels but a way to disable the "wires" behind it as well.
Oh, I already have a solution. It's just a matter of implementing it now.
Does it involve Photoshoppery?
i hope that how ever you do make it happen, it will be as epic as some of the other stuff you have done that you shouldnt have been able to do. great job!
Reclaimer's commentary reminds me of when Deadpool talks to himself through little narrative boxes, rather than actual speech. I like it.

Psh, I wonder what RC's resume would look like. Who would he use for references? The Cavalcade? Yeah, I can see that going over well, lol.

I come with Spartan Armour, and have my own Battle Rifle!
Wooh, Deja Vu.
I swear I've heard that said before, but where…
Where's the question-mark vote?

LOL my post got deleted, i said "T_T", and blam in 2 min its gone just as i subscribed to the comic to LOL
We like substantive comments around these parts.
IS THE TASTE I CAN SEE!(aka i understand) Great story you've got going… i like it.
Seems like Reclaimer is getting quite impatient…..
Wouldn't you be, after all this?
A minor detail to pick at… if the RC had a sniper rifle and battle rifle when collecting Reticent Mystery, how did he get a pistol when blowing up the AI on Isolation, and here?

HSAR, he's magical, he's a reclaimer
Thumbs up to Jim for the 137th time!

ah, well, that makes sense i guess

I am available to help with these anytime… and I really like the way you are going with this page…

I dont think 'mountain mover' was in his job description
