blip No more goddard! Or did he just shut him for a while? And Ferial is talking crazier than Rulebook. In fact Rulebook was a lot less cryptic than usual, and I didn't understand Ferial. Was this another hint hidden in the text thing?

Most intriguing… I would spend more time, normally, trying to decipher Rulebook's ramblings, but I'm basking in the glory of the Halo Wars demo atm.

I can't either, did you see the review I typed up? I need to send you the link to the version of it that I included some tips and tricks. Oh and so this whole subthread isn't completely off-topic, I want to know exactly what Ferial did to Goddard… I'm a technonerd like that.

That, my friend, is something that is likely to be examined more closely in an official short fiction. ;-)

we all want to know what Ferial did,
also you jim, will really want march 3 to come soon, because the collectors edition has the mythic map pack free with it! (at least here in UK, not so sure about america)
after chacking bungie.net america gets it without collectors edition, here in england u need the collectors edition

          • Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
            February 6, 2009 at 5:41 pm | #

Actually, you do have to get the Limited Edition of Halo Wars in order to get the Mythic maps before everyone in the US. I expect they'll be available on the Marketplace within a couple of weeks.

just the US, darn i was going to waste money on getting the "special" edition in UK, ah well i'll just have to use my game-cash to get it, ah well

          • Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
            February 6, 2009 at 5:58 pm | #

No, no – that was phrased badly. I was trying to say that here in the US – like everywhere else in the world where Halo Wars is being released – you have to buy the Limited Edition in order to get the Mythic maps before they're released on the Marketplace. In fact, I think Britain, Europe, Japan (?) will get Halo Wars on Feb. 28, so all those places will have the Mythic maps a couple of days before we do here in the States.

is that how it works? I thought that it would be an install from the disk. If it's coming off the marketplace I'm just going to have Holychild by the game and I'll stick in my profile on his xbox when he downloads the maps so that I can do it on my console when i get home…

            February 10, 2009 at 12:09 am | #

The maps will be available from Halo Wars LE FIRST – then from the Marketplace some time later.

I wonder if Ferial got Goddard with like a computer virus or something. Cause I never saw anything shoot… and Goddard wasn't scared or anything, so maybe Ferial uploaded like a virus and shut him down nearly instantly. And where did you get the demo? Do you know if it's only on Xbox or will it be released on PC?

    • Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
      February 6, 2009 at 12:08 pm | #

The demo is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace as of yesterday. It will not be available on the PC, as there are plans to release a PC version of the game.

      • Sangheilioz
        Sangheilioz
        February 6, 2009 at 4:19 pm | #

Actually, it will NOT be coming to the PC. It is an Xbox 360 exclusive title, and they've clearly stated that it wouldn't work as a PC port for the same issues you have when porting a PC RTS onto a console, the controls just wouldn't work.

        • Jim (TTL Demag0gue)
          February 6, 2009 at 4:30 pm | #

Darn – that was a typo on my part. I meant to write "there are NO plans to release a PC version." Brain got moving faster than my fingers could keep up.

as for Goddard, Ferial could have forced him to use up all his processor space, taking him out of the game ( this also means he can come back into the game, thus why I like it).

Downloadable now from XBLM. And all the maps will be ultimately available everywhere by the time ODST drops in the fall, but the Mythic maps will be available when Halo Wars hits store shelves in a few weeks.

Frankly, I'd be a little worried if anyone's actually able to piece together the clues from this one. Either that individual would be insane – or able to think enough like me to figure it out. Both are frightening conclusions.

eternal refuge is plit into numerouse pieces and is some where that it cannot normally be retrieved, probably slipspace.

in other words part or all of it but in parts, is in slipspace

But would the game Halo Wars limited edition have the mythic maps in the southern hemisphere?
And i know they'll be available with ODST, but maybe i'll just wait for Mythic to hit XBLM?
      Oh, the irony….
      Soup? Key's? and Caves? hmmmmm….
The soup is some sort of puzzle or wall that provides a puzzle or distraction to find the key which leads to the cave…. a cave… a. .cave.
      Avalanche…. no.
      Snowbound… no.
      what then….
Oh and Jim, great news, i re-read a month or so old gaming magazine, and apparently in one of Bungie's acceptance videos, they admitted that a full level editor will be coming our way by the end of this year or next :D
I wonder what the other maps in the ODST game will be like, any one know what they're based on (excluding Orbital, Sandbox (yay), and the other one)

      I'm excited
Sandbox will be amachinima/Mpa makers/Comic makers dream :D oh heaven :D
      and tunnels (tunnels :D :D :D )

        the new maps:
Heretic, it sounds like its based on the halo 2 level
        Asembelly, a scarab factory
Orbital, the clue is in the name
or are the last 2 in the baasic mythic pack, ah well

Ferial must be a phyc too, He deduced the location from Rulebook's ramblings.
Are you making up for the lack of crazy comments realier?
And he dispached those two pretty quickly, I expected more from them.
Then again, the story isn't necessarly over, is it Jim.
Also, is't me, or is the quality a little on the bad side?

Well to me it seems the most information gotten was from "The missing part is always missing" and "Crack down and break the broken. Fix the whole, toss the monkey a banana". Where do things that get lost in this certain thing USUALLY stay forever? Slipspace I'm guessing :D and the other line is how to get him from it I assume.

So far as I've heard (and read), the Mythic maps will be available with the Limited Edition no matter where it's released. At the very least, I haven't heard anything that says they won't be, and I've tried to keep my ear to the ground on the topic as much as possible.

I've seen all those videos and Bungie never actually says that. In fact, Luke put down that rumor in a Bungie Weekly Update a little while back.

But I agree – I'm excited about the new maps and can't wait to use them in Reclaimer. Such plans I have….

Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with Sandbox, though. It feels like Sandtrap without the ruins and with some bits of base stuck in there. Oh, and a pretty wierd sunset-style red-orange filter.

Orbital looks the business though. Makes up for everything. And I hope there's a way to exit Assembly – that would be awesome. :D

I was researching an Idea I had, found #78 Code Pinnacle; which make's a reference to Eternal Refuge, but requires a key, which (in hind sight and the fact that Guardian is the background) naturally leads to RB, which leads me to believe the code is Ferial's doing.

Then I came across #54 Hostile [Carrier Signal] (which I believe is the first reference to ER), which has an AI using a slip space com array to move (hmm, where else have I heard this), which if my suspicions are correct and this is Portent "speaking" then that would mean the Cavalcade are (or have) the key to ER.

Which if they are (or have) the key, then RB's ramblings about "the missing part is always missing" and "crack down and break the broken, fix the whole…", would make some sense, the missing part = Portent, or possibly the other member, as the Reclaimer has four, freed one from Ferial, and is attempting to retrieve Portent, and if you consider "the broken" an object, breaking the broken would be fixing it (like breaking a winning streak), and fix the whole is fairly clear if applied to the Cavalcade.

I actually haven't found the comic I was looking for, well back to searching…

P.S. sorry Jim (and everyone else) I just realized I've been spelling the Cavalcade wrong. oops.

Interesting. It seems Ferial continues to be one step ahead. He's really starting to annoy me. Heh.

I don't feel so bad since you linked it. =P It's my first attempt at a publicized review, so I'm glad it's being so well received.

EDIT: If you take a look at the review, since it's my first attempt, I would love it if you left a comment with some feedback, even if it's just a "nice review". I know, I'm shamelessly plugging myself here, but I do like to improve via feedback.

Hey Jim, do you mind if I ask when your birthday is? I'd like to remember to wish you a happy one when it rolls around this year…

No, Jim I'm not a stalker, I just have a really good memory and a knack for dates and numbers (and you haven't exactly tried to hide it).

Do you think that It will be possible for multiple accounts to benefit from the maps off one disc? I'm more than willing to pay. In fact, if I do somehow get the maps for free in the next month, I will likely pay for them later on. I like supporting Bungie, but I'm not entire convinced (despite the amazing cutscenes in the demo) that I want to spend a$80 for a game… (Btw, you can expect my comic tomorrow around 4:30, I'm running a bit late. :P )

I really don't know how that will work. I suspect that it'll probably be possible to install the maps on more than one machine from the game disc, but I don't know for sure.

I've played the Halo Wars demo, and I can say for certain that it's pretty friggin' sweet. :)

No problem. I was staring to wonder, but late's better than never. :)
