ooh, the bottomless pit of sandbox! does it go all the way to china?
Yah… It's not bottomless. It leads to the Crypt, a large empty room a ways below the main level. Have you never seen anything at all about Sandbox yet? o.O
'bout the size of a griffball arena if i'm not mistaken
its called sarcasm ppl. i know its not bottomless, but i didnt know that it lead to the crypt, cuz i havent heard about any of the mythic maps cuz i dont read the weekly updates or anything from bungie
Ah. Well, then, you're missing out on a valuable resource right there.
If it was on Earth… no, not even then.
The Crypt! Maybe Viper was playing Grifball so much they grav-hammered their way out the shoot… XD
I don't thing they grav-hammered their way otu, but they were definitely playing grifball, no doubt there.
agreed
Absolutely brilliant use of the map. I can't wait for the next installment!
More Viper history, coming right up!
With a side order of Precursor Past? Or Ferial Frape?
perhaps, sandtrap was the training, and this is the augmentation.
There's a point. I guess Jim is gonna have to explain how Viper escaped the inescapable prison
stacking grav lifts
side note; has anyone ben able to stack more than two?
I think I should know why Jim but: "If it was on Earth" ???
Does it look like anywhere on Earth? It's not, and I'm assuming it's a Forerunner or Precursor structure that the Blackhammer project commandeered for the purpose of secrecy. So it's a long abandoned place that the UNSC has taken over.
New Mombassa
What it's empty!?!?
I'm kind of disappointed Jim.
Anyway, how the hell did Viper get out? Were they let out?
Wait… Ferial. >[
Meh, just wait. The crypt and the sky bubble should make up for the barrenness of the surface.
You've been surprised by our reactions before…
He's never surprised
Well, I hope you guys end up enjoying what I do with the Crypt. I'm working on Forging it right now to create a new set.
It should be pretty good then, if it's taken you a whole week to work on it
I'm back!
Anyway, nice screenshots, too bad we had to wait all week to see them. Oh and Blackhammer and Viper are the same and yet different? Because what about the Viper soldiers we saw on Sandtrap? Is that a different location, or a separate training facility. Fills in a lot more about the history behind Viper
Will we get to see the towers in action?
That'd be cool
i have no idea whether i should laugh or cry, i laugh due to the excellence of the comic, but i cry due to Jim teasing us with the mythic map pack
Lol…its not very fun for you guys then? :
D I bet youve done something pretty good with the crypt huh Jim? Check out the map i made using Sandbox, Jim. Actually there are two…theyre both gonna be on my fileshare :)I've spent a chunk of my morning already playing in Forge in the Crypt. I'm starting to get really good at geo-glitching.
Geo-glitching?
Setting objects that they overlap into each other.
I really do doubt that very much
Not even plausible. New Mombassa has a huge river going through it (why there was that huge ass bridge in Halo 2 when you were in that level.) Nowhere near resembling a desert
you don't know why i stated that… i'll keep the reason under the radar for now >:)
Ok, sorry, I was just making a comment based on the information that I had. Sorry if that offended you.
certainly none taken, never was any offense, i just want to keep things a little secret for now
Why must you always use cliffhangers!!!
Aw, you know you love 'em.
It's a love/hate thing.
Its a very good technique…keeps us regulars hooked so we stay as…urm…regulars.
Butit canbe slightly annoying sometimes, i have to agree.
they werent playin grifball they were playin golf
lol. y'know what im talking about dont ya jim?
Me too lol
They couldve taken out the gravhammer sound on the 7-wood
yeh, that totally ruined it for me, they could have had that nice lovely splack of the 7-Wood when it hits a golf ball in real life… i would've been hooked!!!
Oh and if they had've made the soccer ball squeak when you hit it with the grav hammer, just like the toys your dog plays with, would've been hilarious!
haha lol. That sounds cool in my mind
you should poke bungie and make it happen
Also, have you noticed when you hit the golf ball right next to the tin-cup thing, the golf ball is attracted into the hole like a magnet
lol
yes, i found that sort of a let down, it requires next to no skill to get it in, it just goes in if you get it close!
Rathr frustrating at times…
Nah, I'd be a regular, cliffhangers or no ;D
ditto
I guess so. Another ditto
ditto
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the UNSC would want towers to keep people in, rather than out. It was a secret base, right?
Maybe they have 'eyes' in the back of their heads?
You'll see.
Seeing as it's a secret base, why would they need to defend from outside attacks? I mean, the facility is secret so nobody should even know it exists. Think of it like a prison, which works well since Viper were originally criminals.
But why not defend from the outside? It seems exceedingly arrogant not to.
(>_< ) :-) XD
FIRST! Oh… maybe not. That's a cool plot idea, you make it seem like you knew about these maps when you started scripting Reclaimer back a year and a half ago…
Yes it's very strange isn't it
Expert writing, my friend.
Maybe hes referring to when New Mombassa is destroyed in Halo 3: ODST? It could be seen as a barren wasteland just like Sandbox.
good observation EVA! You win the cookie
But why not defend from the outside? It seems exceedingly arrogant.
ditto again
Yay! Lots of updates! Someone must have been chugging these out at a phenominal rate! You're the best, Jim.
It's been a busy week, to say the least.
Definetly
I always called that "merging"... I thought "geo-glitching" was merging objects with the geometry of the level, like pushing walls partly into the level's walls or floor.
Have you only just learned how to do that? It took me a while and it's very time consuming but it definitely adds something to that aesthetics of forged maps. But in the wider community, I think it's called merging
According to Forgehub definitions, Jim is talking about interlocking. The term "geo-merging" is used for merging objects with the geometry of the level (It's also called "geo-glitching")
i should
Hehe, well I was misinformed, then. The whole concept is relatively new to me as a practice, so I'd never bothered to learn the terminology before now.
