I know I promised to have the results of the Reclaimer: Sandbox contest ready today, but to be honest, I haven’t even had time to look at the submissions yet due to be out of town this past weekend. This means that the results are going to be delayed next Monday at the earliest. I’m planning to sit down for a couple of hours on Saturday and run through everything, since I’ll actually be home. On the plus side, now that the Reclaimer Store is online, it means that I’ll be able to add a couple of t-shirts to the prize pool for the winners as an extra bonus for my making you wait.
See? It’s not all bad.
It’s finally here – and in better form than the prior version. Yes, I’ve just launched the Reclaimer Store, version 2.0. (See the new link up above on the nav bar?)
The first (and currently only) product in the store is a black t-shirt with white print featuring one of the most requested Reclaimer quotes on the front – “I FLEW”. The back sports a full-size Reclaimer logo and accompanying website link. Yes, my dear friends, I intend to make you into little walking billboards.
There is a variety of shipping options available upon checkout, both to the US and worldwide.
Provided these shirts sell well enough, I plan to have a couple of other shirts printed up in the near future. In the meantime, though, go ‘fly’ into the store and place your orders. I have a limited quantity, so get them while you can.
OFFICIAL ADDENDUM TO HIGH COMMAND: Certain lines from from this report have been stricken from the record, as requested. Specfically, the following paragraph has been altered to match the ‘official’ version read above:
Communication networks fleetwide have been severed, per recommendations from Command. Naturally this has had an adverse affect on UNSC operations around the galaxy and has proven extremely detrimental in the war against the Flood as all deployed fleets have been effectively stranded. We highly recommend reactivating communications as soon as possible, else we risk being overrun completely by the Flood.
This addendum is for your eyes only, sir, and is the last remaining evidence of this change in the sitrep. As such, this document should be destroyed immediately upon your reading of it, per UNSC/ONI Protocol AD593GT-Y – Prometheus.
I’m a little late catching up (a sign of the way my entire week has gone), but the Reclaimer: Sandbox contest closed to submissions at 11PM last night. So what’s next?
I have in my inbox 17 submissions from all over the world that I need to look through and judge. I’m going to try to have the final results ready by next Wednesday, despite being out of town (and away from my Xbox) this weekend. At that time, I’ll have a complete writeup of the results and one or two screenshots from each submission. I’ll also post links to the maps in their respective file share locations for anyone else who wants to check them out.
So that’s where things stand right now. Thank you to everyone who participated. I’ll have another contest in two or three months, once I’m able to get my prize cache restocked.
In the meantime, I hope you continue to enjoy Reclaimer, as I hope to have some extra-special goodies showing up here and there over the next few weeks.
I’m not really a poetry kind of guy. I’ve just never found the right kind of appreciation for the genre, as a rule. That said, the lines at the beginning of today’s comic are an excerpt from Brandy Schwan’s “Catacombs and Photographs” (from the chapbook of the same name). I fell in love with Brandy’s poetry the first time I read it, and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s dark, lyrical, and has a kind of music to it that speaks to me. If you haven’t read any of her work, then I highly recommend you go buy her two collections and get familiar with her.
Change gears now.
The Reclaimer: Sandbox contest closes tonight at 11PM EDT. At the time of this posting, that gives you just about 14 hours to put the finishing touches on your map for a chance to win The Cole Protocol, the Halo Trilogy music anthology, and a free one-year Gold subscription to Xbox Live. Get those entries in to me – before time runs out!
The deadline for the Reclaimer: Sandbox contest is rapidly approaching. I’ve looked through a few of the entries already turned in, and there is some really nice looking stuff out there! If you haven’t gotten your entry turned in yet, you have until 11PM Eastern on Wednesday to get it emailed to me. Tick tock!
