ha, that's a nice twist. The Reclaimer is usually the brawn kind of guy, doing all the hard work such as making things blow up, while the Calvalcade are the thinkers. A bit of a role reversal there! I like
Nice work Jim. At last a really good explosion! But just out of curiosity, are all Calvacada rescued through big explosions? An earlier one we visited, RC blew up the fusion coils and plasma batteries "to free up processor space" or something like that, and now this one. And come to think of it, I am sure that there were explosions when he freed that other one that was supposed to look like MC and when he found the 3 at Standoff, there were explosions there when he fought Viper. Hooray for explosions! sigh I got Mythic Maps and Halo Wars today. Oh well. sigh
Oh well?? Thats a good thing, the mythic maps are great, Halo Wars is great! Glad you got it now SOB!
Add me on xbox live, Gamertag is Captain EVA
We can play some Halo Wars, me and my friend can teach you the ultimate skills and tricks!
Played an awesome game with my firend a few minutes ago, we both fought them off till they had no supplies…then we sent 30 or so hawks in between us, cryofroze their base and completely obliterated them! Oh it was so fun!!
I got to play a little over the weekend, around the general chaos at my house. Had a hard-fought skirmish on Labyrinth, set to Heroic difficulty. My partner (AI) got wiped out pretty quick, so it was just me with one base against two AI opponents with four bases between them. Took me a while to establish a foothold and get any real forward momentum going. Took longer still for the mop-up operation.
2 points to query, are they referring to humans when saying reclaimers? as i thought the term was only applied to RC himself. and i thought this was before Halo CE and therefore the alliance isnt till later. just reading throught them all again so my questions may be answered already.
There are Reclaimers (humans) and there is the Reclaimer Project (from which our hero gets his moniker).
The Reclaimer storyline takes place roughly during the same time span the events of Halo: Combat Evolved would have. However, these events occur in an alternate Haloverse, so certain things here are different than what you would expect in the video games. For instance, the Flood in the Reclaimerverse were discovered sooner and are a much more pervasive threat, having already established a strong foothold in the galaxy. As a result, the Covenant have set aside their genocide of humanity and formed a tenuous alliance with the UNSC to fight back the Flood.
oh wow
didn't know it was that close to the [bungie] storyline
i thought the only thing you were using were models and such
that makes a whole lot more sense now
It's a very similar universe in a lot of ways, but it's quite different in others, too. Call it a sister universe, if you will, something that Halo fans will recognize and feel mostly comfortable in, with the occasional twist to create and maintain tension.
Oh well?? Thats a good thing, the mythic maps are great, Halo Wars is great! Glad you got it now SOB! :)

I agree to, much better
i was the same way (starting at 1)
are you going to release a compilation pdf or something?
(sorry about no login to intensedebate; public computer)
I'd love to see this in a book form. friend of mine loves comics but fears the net (technophobe I know but I can't sway her). I've been keeping her updated every so often with the storyline but (and I know it's a stretch) if you could get a book issued somewhere in New Zealand, or even on amazon, guarentee it'll sell.
Yeh i suggested something along those lines a while back…well i think i did, i know i was going to but i decided i wasn't going to post until I'd caught up on the storyline; i may not have got round to it. Anyway, the Reclaimer storyline has so much potential as a book, a compilation of all the comics, if you will. The pages could be the shiny sheet material that is used for comics…i'm getting carried away, lol. I can even see this being a game, i think it would be amazing…well I'd by the book and the game, hah!
What do you think? Should Jim consider the book at least?
The only problem is Microsoft owns the copyright, so Jim would have to get permission from them (which I'm guessing they haven't gotten back to you, Jim).
It's nice to see the reclaimer show up again in the comic that is his name sake i was missing seeing him around, and the quirkyness of the calvacade. Good comic Jim!
yeah..i was thinkin when are we gonna actually see the covenant.. l mean how are you gonna incorparate them into the story…. you could take pictures from campaign or just use the multiplayer elites
You won't really the Covenant in this storyline. The events of Reclaimer are taking place well away from the center of the action, away from the Covenant/human fight for survival against the Flood. This is by design – Ferial's design – and is no less important to the survival of the galaxy than is the battle against the Flood. Ferial merely intends to use all circumstances to his own advantage.
I love the Calvalcada, especially when they have those undertones of sarcasm that seem to be creeping through the dialogue. The whole "liars" scene is still my favorite out of the whole series.
BTW, I decided when I first came here to go all the way back to the first comic and read it all the way through, I'm glad you picked the 1 page comic. Only took 3 days of casual reading to catch up. RvB took weeks. I started watching that after Blood Gulch Chronicles ended. You can imagine how long that took to catch up on. Now I think to pick up on some backstory, I might just go read those old conversations.
I like your WIKI lol…
Occupation: Writer, Enrollment Analyst, Horse Farmer, Husband, Evil Cliff-hanger Producer
Ah good times…
By the way, i added my name to the 'readers' section, is that OK?
Did you win? I look forward to maybe playing an online party 2v2 with you at some point, Jim? Maybe when you get together the Reclaimer night thing, there could be a Halo Wars part.
Hmm….good catch! Although it could be twisted to fit into the story like so: The Machine was precursor built or built by something else and the Forerunners knew of its significance and built an outpost around it so that they could protect and watch over it. But still, nice catch!
I kind of figured the machine was Forerunner after it referred to "my makers" then the Precursors as "His (Ferial's) people", if the machine was Precursor it would have probably been "my makers" both times.
I don't have enough time to read all the comments… but I just started tonight (about 2 hours ago) from page one, and got to this page. It's awesome!! xD
Well, uh, anyway. Loving Insane, he's da bomb. Wonder if he can take some anti-insane pills?
LOL, "Hold onto your helmets!"
I knew you wouldn't disappoint, Jim. I senseth explosions, and explosions cometh!
Yay, explosion!!!
And I knew you didn't change colors
Orange = Resplendent Legacy
Blue = Reticent Mystery
Red = Sempiternal Chaos
Yellow = Fortuitous Destiny
ha, that's a nice twist. The Reclaimer is usually the brawn kind of guy, doing all the hard work such as making things blow up, while the Calvalcade are the thinkers. A bit of a role reversal there! I like
They occasionally manage to get their, ahem, "hands" dirty.
o-o I love this comic. I only picked up on it recently. Fortuitous Destiny is awesome. Crazy people are the best. Grab Your Ankles.
GRAB YOUR ANKLES! Yay an explosion! Nice work, Jm.
I think I've just created a new catchphrase.
You have indeed!
I love it! Grab your Ankles!
TTL Demag0gue – generating catchphrases since 2008.

I hadn't originally planned for it, but the opportunity here was too good to pass up.
Glad to have you along for the ride, Rhaevius.
There are plenty of explosions in the storyline – not all of them related to retrieving Cavalcada.
There are Reclaimers (humans) and there is the Reclaimer Project (from which our hero gets his moniker).

Ah, some back-story. I hadn't known about that tidbit.
Yeah, I've elaborated on this several times in past comment discussions. Now I just need to transfer it over into the wiki.
that be why i never got it before, didnt always read all the comments. i am this read through though.
There's a lot of backstory buried in those past discussions.

Then I look forward to a (relatively) complete wiki!
Haha! Wooo! Explosions! Hit the spot right where I needed it… bit of a slow morning today. Thanks, Jim!
As well as lots of death threats
Just a few.
Good old days…
Yeah, I kind of enjoy the current quality of interaction better.
Glad i wasnt around back then…
Some of my readers were pretty hard on me there for a while.
We still are
Fair point.
bring out John Kenyon poster like him?
Wow, go Cavalcade!
Heh, it must be a slow morning indeed.
Apparently they're sometimes good for more than running commentary.

I can guarantee you that it'll be well worth your time. There's a lot of good stuff buried in those comments.
I'm glad you like the one-a-day format. Personally, I think it makes more sense from a pacing perspective for a webcomic.
I agree to, much better

I'm going to do something. I'm just not exactly sure what or when yet.

In Britain they say "pull your socks up" so it is similar but the new catchphrase is all yours!
"Reclaimer – educating young minds"
B)
Why do I get the feeling someone will find it immoral some way and say your ruining young minds. That is, if they ever hear of this webcomic.
And understand what a webcomic is.
And understand what a web is.
It's nice to see the reclaimer show up again in the comic that is his name sake
i was missing seeing him around, and the quirkyness of the calvacade. Good comic Jim!
Thanks! I've been enjoying spinning several different threads and watching them dance around each other.
You know it's quality technology by the size of the explosion. _
I wonder when we'll next see Ferial….
Sooner than you might think.
Before or after RC gets IP?
I really enjoy what you've been doing with the hidden messages when you scroll over the comic and great comic as always.
That's a new feature with the latest version of the ComicPress theme. I've had fun coming up with little gems to write there.

Great job on the comic, can't wait for Wednesday!
Yay, Slipspace go BOOM!
Knowing you it will probably be one before RC gets IP that you switch back to Ferial.
Just before RC finds him, it'll switch to Ferial and we'll have to wait for another week.
You people are Sooooo jaded.
Jim, I was thinking all weekend "I hope Jim gives us a really good comic for monday" and you didnt dissappoint, at all. Great Job!
Glad I could make your day. B)
You didn't make my day…
...it made my week!
Hah, very clever.
nah, it'll be ferial in a couple of days. But yes we are sooooo jaded
oh damn, noone noticed this. This confirms the machine is foreruner!

It's not. There's a smiley in there.

Jim, did you set the clock on whatever it is that posts your comics forward?
Yeah, I forgot to adjust the server time over the weekend.
That is, indeed, the problem. =/
Nawp. Not my style.
You don't get tired of dramatic BOOMS do you… wait does this count because you said FHOOM.
Oh, they're definitely good cliffhanger material.
