hmmm shall he disguise himself???
Um, no.
hehe i thought that was an awesome idea… he could make him look like ferial or something
im guessing its going to involve some way of cutting him off from his dyson sphere
Personally the 'I have an idea' thing seems like another great T-shirt idea. I don't know why, but I bet if we scoured this this comic's entire run, it would probably generate enough good 1 liners for an entire T-shirt line.
I still need to sell more of the current 'I Flew' shirts before I can contemplate making any more. Wanna buy one?
in the 4th panel, is it supposed to say "oversimplification" or is it right the way it is?
other than that, its a good strip. I wonder what this idea is? maybe drop Fortuitous Destiny out of the suit, pick up portent, then grab FD again?
That won't work. Destiny is already bonded with its compatriots (more
on that later, as well).
Wait, Jim, maybe you can answer this (or just say it will be explained at some undisclosed point in the future), if Portent is able to gather enough energy to bundle air and turn it into a "solid" lethal projectile, why can't the four Cavalcade members in RC's head gather enough energy to generate more than a wimpy shield?
I'm wondering the same thing, and i'm sure Jim will explain in due time.
All in good time…
Have we discussed this before? I rather think we have…
Have we discussed this (privately) before? I rather think we have…
Briefly.
They're probably don't have the ability to project directly into the physical world, and are limited to manipulating his suit and channeling their energy through it. If they channeled that much energy through his suit, it would probably kill him. There is a mention of something like that earlier when he is at Valhalla fighting Viper.
In the final panel, RC's font changes to the font that the Cavalcade uses. Is this because he is sarcastically impersonating them, or something more?
Nope, simple mistake that. I thought I'd caught all those.
No, I think you misunderstood. From my understanding, the font you see at the very end is the font of the insane Cavalcade, not RC. I'm sure we'll either find out what the idea was in the next strip (lolololololol) or we'll be given a hint.
Yeah, I actually fixed the font issue he mentioned.
Haha, RC has an Idea the Cavalcade, in all their infinite wisdom, could not come up with!
Haha, RC has an idea the Cavalcade, in all their infinite wisdom, could not come up with!
And there is no way they could, in this case.
That's a good point, I never noticed it…
I'm not sure about the grammar of this part:
"Once built, then forgotten but for our own maintenance".
Did you mean "Once built, THEY ARE forgotten…"?
or perhaps "Built, then forgotten…"?
Referring, of course, to the micro-spheres.
I was questioning the grammatical correctness… it doesn't sound right.
I was questioning the grammatical correctness… it doesn't sound right. :/
Oh, I see what you're driving at. It is a bit awkward. I'll see about smoothing it out once I get to the office (I'm in route at the moment).
iPhone win?
Pretty much, yeah.
You're going to wind up killing yourself, then we're going to bring you back so we can kill you, and then we're going to bring you back so you can finish the comic.
Naw, I'm just well-networked. My phone lets me keep track of website stuff even when I'm on the bus to work.
OH, BUS, okay, you're not going to kill your self, then we aren't going to have to revive you and kill you, and then we aren't going to have to bring you back so you can finish the comic.
Jim gets a cookie for riding the bus.
And yes HSAR I have flood in my basement, I'm really the Gravemind you just don't know it, your house is next…
Yeah, I don't text or reply to email while driving. That's dangerous!
Oh no. Of course. You wouldn't want to set a bad example for the young-ins, would you Jim?
Exactly.
You have Flood in your basement?
"What are you doing?"
"Sir… finishing the comic."
~Reclaimer 2, end cutscene
I'll forgive you for mistyping "en route", then
Damn iPhone spellchecker. I know I spelled it e-n. Sometimes that thing is just a little too helpful. :@
Tell me about it. I get "HSAR" corrected every time, I tell you. Haven't worked out how to stop it yet :/
I keep wishing for a way to add words to the spellcheck dictionary.
I think you can… if you cancel the autocorrect enough times. I mean, in Settings > General > Reset, there's an option to "Reset Keyboard Dictionary", which kind of implies that there's something to reset in the first place.
See, now I'm gonna have to look into it.
This is now the longest subthread ever!
It's actually not. There are longer ones.
No. I don't believe it. Come on, I can't even type this in without it going on two lines. See?—>
EMP?
An EMP would wipe out RC's systems and the Cavalcade members in his head as well.
Undoubtedly.
Not to mention that it's unlikely that the Forerunners wouldn't have thought of that and used optoelectronic networking or some other EMP-resistant technology.
No, it's not obvious, though it might end up being simple.
so if the calvacade "bond" does that mean that their Dyson Spheres also compond against each other thus forming a stronger and bigger Slipspace junction to allow for the broader data transfer? or are you gonna explain it away with "oh! because they invented the (insert-random-gaget-name-here) to counter that effect"
Nah, it's probably just a physical link in realspace.
Right, so they then would become like say… parallel computers hooked together with physical links to transfer communications but then their cores would remain separate and wouldn't meld together…I see
Hehehe, just you wait.
I do indeed have an answer and explanation for that, but you'll just have to wait for it.
waiting is no fun
but you said that once calvacade are bonded then they can't be separated,
but if they can pull power from slipspace, then they should be able to pull more power from slipspace once they are melded in "realspace", which would make them far more powerful together than separate. Now perhaps the empty shatterbox would allow for the melding of the slipspace junctions as well, which would make them far more powerful than any previous state of melding in realspace
It's a matter of function more than anything.
Trying to think of this wonderful idea of Reclaimers….what could it be?
Pepper spray? lol
I'm sure we will be surprised….that or kicking ourselves because it's so simple and obvious…
Also, check out my comment on Mondays comic, read and you'll see what it's about:

Give your ideas on it by posting a reply, thanks.
Place a shield around him? Vacuum the place? Plenty of possible answers.
I think the most likely is going to be some kind of Slipspace jammer or interrupt or something similar.
Am back, and I'm (finally) up to speed. This series just keeps on getting better.
I'm glad you're enjoying it (even if I do have one or two who don't).
And welcome back!
Hm, just updated the comic with a little update that didn't make it in for some reason. Musta been half asleep by the time I got to the end…
LOL i love the update
Brilliant
Yeah, it was in my original script. I just forgot to put it into the
comic itself. Destiny doesn't say much these days, but when it does
vocalize, it never fails to crack me up.
I thought I saw something new when i reread it this evening, great lines by that guy
Oops, replying to OP. Never mind though.
Teehee indeed. Teehee to the max….....
And it only gets better.
...No. The font was a mistake. Stop thinking about it. XD
Oh wait, you mean the Teeheehee? Didn't see that there before Jim….
Very well done. Just when I thought my story was full of complexity.. Very good job, loving it. I'm glad stuff like this is free.
Webcomics should always be free.
Glad you're enjoying the storyline.
Teeheehee…
Perfect Jim the Reclaimer and Mr. crazy seem to share a common idea.:)
My guess, his plan involves a boom.
That's my opinion, too, he must have known what RC had in mind
Sonic, no less.
Or, maybe it's something else.
wow nice teeee made me laugh
Good. That was the intended effect.
The idea, Rubber ducky.
I'm actually surprised that the rubber ducky has not shown up in the comic. Everyone know's there's not a legitimate comic if there isn't a rubber ducky in it.
So…the moment of truth…the rubber ducky of truth!
Ferial keeps a rubber ducky in the bath.
How can you be sure it's RC?
How can who be sure what's RC?
Hmm, I enjoy these discussions
well I shall just wait till the next Comic gets posted
This comic actually answered a question I had about the last one… Are you reading my mind? :paranoid: I was wondering if their micro dyson spheres were true dyson spheres in that they had a sun at the center. Guess not!
When he was at Valhalla, that was power that was built up by the installation at Valhalla, not the Cavalcade, and Portent can project to the physical world, so I'm not really getting how the others couldn't just b/c they're in RC's suit.
And just when I was starting to miss him… I love that guy. So much crazy.
Um, no, not really. I only have a Master's degree (in psychology).
Actually, I'd already intended to use this comic to elaborate a bit on the structure of the Cavalcade's inner core.
OK, I have to say this. I know this is like 5 pages in the past for everyone, but there is a misspelling in this one.
The blue text at the bottom of the second square at the top – it says "Automonous" and it should say "Autonomous".
I dont know if you get notices of posts like these in your email or not, Jim, but I thought I'd point this out. Sorry it took me until today to say anything, I WAS having viewing problems for a while. But I noticed this one day before yesterday, as the top half of each comic page would load before the whole web page blanked out, and I was speed-reading off the top squares of all the comics that came through.
Anyway… otherwise, it looks fine, but having a member of the Calvacada stumble over a word is hilariously out of character.
I mean…. really.
