Bungie’s Render-To-Video service has finally gone into public beta – and I’ve already used my two credits to test drive the service on a couple of the video files in my File Share. (Incidentally, I found two more render credits available on my account this morning, which I’ve already put to good use.)
Below are a couple of sample videos from my Share that I’ve rendered, downloaded, and embedded. Both are standard definition, since HD rendering is currently not available.
I’m looking forward to seeing the HD renders and to seeing just what sort of pay-as-you-go plan Bungie comes up with. What this means in the long-term is that you may very well see some Reclaimer machinima appearing over the summer months. So stay tuned…

Reclaimer Machinima would be awesome, but I'm not sure that Bungie would give you unlimited free credit. That's the only problem. They probably would for Machinima Directors, like DigitalPh33r, but I'm not sure.
Oh, I'm certain they won't. The article on Bungie.net, though, says that they'll be offering some sort of pay-as-you-go plan once the program comes out of beta, something which I'll take full advantage of until I can get a decent desktop computer that will handle local video capture.
I can't believe Bungie isn't giving this to people who got pro through the mythic offer
Likewise. That surprises me a little. Maybe that was one of the ways they trimmed down the beta testing pool.
I know, I checked this out right after I read it here and I nearly peed my pants in glee
This is awesome! Too bad we only get one point a month
I've already captured two for my montage before I realised they weren't from the right angle
Still this is gonna be awesome!! YAY FOR BUNGIE!!!
I'm gonna be trying this later…did you have to do anything special to make sure you didn't get the time stamp bar at the top? Often when I play back a video that automatcially comes up.
It renders it exactly the way you captured it to your File Share.
Always in first-person?
That's just the way I'd had vids on my Share captured.
I haven't recorded many video clips but could you get it to record the camera movements you make? Like a panning camera? If so that is awesome!
Isn't it just great?
I love this. I feel so enabled.
I'm lovin' it so far. Bring on the HD!
Very nice.. However, unfortunately, the only differences with Halo 3 in SD and HD are small minute ones in terms of graphics, I have yet to see any exactly major things.
Have you seen any comparisons aside from what's currently available on the B.net blog?
No, but I play on a computer monitor and I don't notice much of a difference when I play on an SD tv.
Ah, well, SD vs. HD does make a bit of a difference.
With most games, yes.. I just don't see a big jump in Halo 3
Actually less than you might think, since Halo 3 isn't natively rendered in full HD. It renders in some other, 700-800 pixel resolution and is scaled up by the Xbox.
So THAT'S how the Reclaimer fights. takes notes
Actually, the Reclaimer doesn't fight. He just shows up in the matchmaking lobby and everyone else quits.
LOL! I love it!
I was wondering how good Reclaimer was at Matchmaking…nice sword overkill and splatter spree.
Thanks. The Splatter Spree was in my very first game of Halo 3 (post-beta). It was kinda fun.
Jim is a monster..
Of course I am. And I torture small puppies, too.
You fiend!
The Render to video thing looks really awesome, I just hope it's worth the price.
It records the video exactly the way you capture the clip. I just added a third film up above displaying an independent static cam. I'll try to add one more clip once I have some more render minutes available. I've got a clip with an independent moving camera, as well, to render.
I'm sure it will be boy. I have faith in the boys (and girls) at Bungie.
