Because by the looks of things, Portent isn't and possibly never was crazy. There is obviously a very specific reason Portent was shooting at them. It may be that Portent has figured out at least part of Ferials plans for them and knew that without the Calvacada, there was a big chance of stuffing up Ferials plans. But where this will lead should be very interesting :p

It does look very similar. And that would certainly explain Portent's actions, but… that seems too easy of an answer, to be honest.
In this case, it's just a coincidence. It happens to be a very good font for expressing outrage with a violent chill.

Meh it is, but it was so over exaggerated. More people have died from the normal flu this year than swine flu. And those that have died are very old very young or have a pre existing medical condition. So I don't think there is a real problem. Anywhere…

Usually, me neither, but it's a moot point anyway. They're as one, right?
It would be extremely hard as I'm pretty sure that at least one of their colors have been switched a minimum of once.
And there's a reason for that.
Well maybe the fact that you only have three colours to work with between 7 Calvacada. And it is a moot point, I generally find it is completely irrelevant, because it really doesn't matter :p

I think portent is going to be the only name I remember. It's used so much.
Portent has been excessively difficult to collect.
I hope you don't use that word lightly because it took like 50 comics and half a year, and I'm sure that you didn't intend it to take so long. Technically, Reclaimer just recently visited the Machine but I barely remember that conversation.
I half hope that the rest of your plot scenarios are this long and half hope that they don't.
I fully hope they aren't. Detailed they may be, but like you said, it took us nearly six months to get one stubborn Calvacada, and in comic time only a few days have elapsed…

I think Portent knows just exactly what is going on. I think what happened was Ferial tried to boobytrap the old program, and he failed, and in doing so Portent realized fully Ferial's plans… I also think that Portent beleives the only way to really stop Ferial is to halt the reconnection of the Cavalcade.
Portent isnt as crazy as he seems. He's smart… and he probably knows more about what is going on than any of the other programs put together.

Hey Jim. I have been following the series and have gotten up to Program: Dreamstate. I really like this series. Sometimes I think you're actually drawing this yourself! Well, anyway, I'd like to point out a few things.
When Ferial was talking about his "failed experiment", that being the Flood, I told myself, "The Flood could not be made. They are viral organisms that can mutate in horrendous ways, and they are extragalactic. There is no way they could be created by anyone." But then, when Machine said that Ferial was Precursor, it clicked. The Precursors were at the highest tier on the Forerunner Technological Achievement Tree, as they could travel from galaxy to galaxy and move entire planets. This gave me the idea that maybe, just maybe, the Precursors had something to do in the Flood infection. Much of their background is unknown.
I am still trying to piece together what happened at Dreamstate. Here's what I think happened:
The UNSC Marines were deployed to a battlefield to engage in an unknown enemy, maybe the Covenant, I dunno, but Virus killed them off in its Infection stage, after being purged from the Slipspace Array by Viper. Am I right?
Hehe, not even close.
So what were UNSC Marines doing charging out of their Pelicans and dying right on the spot?
Also, I watched what happened to Ferial after he got owned by Reulard. How could, with the flick of a switch, Ferial kill an ONI AI? And wouldn't the ONI know what happened to him if he was reporting to them?
Also, can you come up with something better for Viper-1 than "Corporal Jenkins"?
Most of those answers will only come with time. The story is still unraveling.

You know with several millenia old ai programs you would think they could figure out that if its shooting at them then it probably is trying to prevent something bad happening, well at least what i thought of forerunner ai's

I am going to try to add a little twist into my comic called "The Reclaimers" (I created the idea months ago—I did not steal it). It's about a group of Spartans who are fighting an unknown enemy they found locked inside of Forerunner ruins on Mars (this taking place in 2556). Also, a renegade band of Humans severely opposed to the UNSC is seeking revenge, and the Spartans manage to fall right into it.
