Reclaimer is a fan-created Halo comic based in an alternate Haloverse, built exclusively from Halo 3 screenshots and assembled in Photoshop. The Reclaimerverse is very similar to the Haloverse in setting, but certain events that take place in Haloverse never happened in the Reclaimerverse, and that is where the two stories diverge. The Reclaimerverse is something of a dystopia, and the UNSC authorities are not all trustworthy and altruistic – but then again, there isn’t the threat of annihilation by the Covenant (or even the Flood) that there is in the Haloverse. The universe looks a bit different here, but the threats are no less apocalyptic.
The Reclaimer is the next breed of UNSC super-soldier. The warrior who became the Reclaimer was pulled from the Spartan ranks and placed into this experimental program. The objective of this program was to forge a fighting unit that was even faster and more powerful than the Spartan. The Reclaimer program was scrubbed shortly after it began, however, when it became clear to the powers-that-be that neither the scientists involved nor the sole program recruit could be controlled. So, the Reclaimer was left with his training incomplete, forever bonded to his armor. Now he is on a mission of vengeance and justice, chasing after a series of enemies with unknown objectives – and time is running out.

Ferial is one sneaky little sumbitch. It’s pretty clear that he has his hands into everything and that he knows a lot more about what’s happening that he’s letting on. It’s unclear what his agenda is, or whether he fights on the side of good or evil. What is clear is that he seems to be manipulating both sides to his own ends – and he also seems to be more comfortable with human weapons than with Covenant arms.

Viper – these guys are rough stuff. The next generation super-warrior, even beyond the Reclaimer, these soldiers are faster, stronger, and more intelligent, and it’s going to take everything the Reclaimer has – and more – to best them before they can unleash their own plans on the universe. Having recovered a mysterious piece of technology called ‘Archimedes’, they have commandeered a large signal array, only to have that wrested from their control by an unknown artificial construct. Once again, Ferial’s maneuverings can be seen behind Viper’s actions, and it remains to be seen what those machinations consist of.

The Cavalcade is a series of artificial constructs dating back from the time of the Forerunners. At one time they were the predominant artificial intelligence, networking so fluidly and flawlessly with one another that they became known as a Unity, wielding absolute – but benificent – power over all Forerunner technology. Ultimately, the Forerunners opted to dismantle the Unity and separate them throughout the galaxy, rather than running the risk of one or more of the Cavalcade falling to Rampancy and undermining the whole of Forerunner society. Such is their state that the locations of the Cavalcade have been lost to all but four, and the Reclaimer must determine the whereabouts of the remaining three in order to have any hope of putting a stop to both Ferial and Viper.
