2nd Lieutenant Daniel Luger, WSO [D.L]: “Captain, I’ve picked up an interesting signal.”
Captain Peter McLanahan, Pilot [P.M.]: “What is it Luger?”
D.L.: “I’m not quite sure…”
D.L.: “But I know it shouldn’t exist. The code’s for a Project Blackhammer, which was shut down some time ago at General Hartford’s orders.”
P.M.: “Well, whatever it is, we’re going to investigate.”
P.M.: “Base, we’re heading out to track this signal. We’ll radio in when we find the source.”

...(no communications from Pilot/WSO recorded)...

D.L.: “It’s moving away from us. I’ve detected no increase in signal strength yet, but it seems to be either moving at the same speed as us or is diminishing as we get closer.”
P.M.: “Right. Keep tabs on it. If this keeps up, we’re going to have to land and refuel this bird.”

...(no communications recorded)...

D.L.: “It’s stopped moving. Signal strength is increasing.”
P.M.: “About time. We’re running low on fuel.”

...(no communications recorded)...

D.L.: “We’re out of fuel, McLanahan. We need to land RIGHT NOW.”
P.M.: “Negative. We’re too high up, and…”
(sound of engines dying)
P.M.: “Great, I’ve just lost all thrusters. Our maneuverability is shot. This bird is going to go down hard.”
D.L.: “Land her in the water! It’ll…”
P.M.: “We’re going in too fast, Luger! I can barely steer her!”
P.M.: “We’re going to crash, repeat, crash landing imminent! Eject, Luger! Now!”
(loss of communication with pilots: KIA/incap./eject?)
